Man shot, drives through fence into rabbit cage

Gunfire crackled in the night and a truck suddenly smashed through the wooden fence of a house in Little Haiti Thursday night, plowing through a rabbit cage, freeing the bunnies to hop around the crime scene.

When police arrived, they found a man shot, gravely wounded. He was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center and was clinging to life, police said.

Police said an older model Monte Carlo with damage to the front was seen driving from the scene at North Miami Avenue and 74th Street.

The wounded man's Ford F150, its lights still on, made it the full length of the yard.

It was unclear if any bunnies were also victims in the crash.
