City of Miami People, where are you on this? by geniusofdespair

Real Estate Agent Edie Laquer with County Manager George Burgess? Here is a woman who got rich off of the City of Miami Building Boom as the agent of choice for the "BIG" multi-million dollar deals and she is pictured with the the teflon coated County Manager who seems to be able to dodge every bullet of county corruption.

Anyone have anything to say about either of them? I think they are just pictured together, but it does open the door to comments from you the readers on county and city politics.

Let's hear from you!

How is Burgess staying out of firing range...what is his secret? How can he keep everyone happy? There must be an underbelly of decay going on in the county -- like putting a cap over a rotted tooth. Once in awhile you can see the reality but it is well hidden.

That is what this photo evokes for me: two caps on rotted teeth.

Compared to prior county managers, Burgess is a big improvement. He's just doing his job. I'm not sure what the point about Laquer is. She's just doing business, very successfully. Both of these people are successes, according to their job descriptions. If you want to re-write the job descriptions, get more than two percent of the people out to vote.

The point anonymous:
Just trying to get a comment thread going... trying a lot of different openings to see what appeals to people.

My comments.

George Burgess appears totally clueless. He claims to be completely deceived by all the crooks who stole County money meant for affordable housing. And Burgess claims no one told him employees were stealing from the Water & Sewer Dept. Burgess is asleep on the job. Or maybe he is just stupid.

Edie Laquer is a great salesperson. She convinced many wealthy men that there would be a never ending stream of rich buyers to buy every overpriced condo. Perhaps she is being a bit deceptive? Now she is busy selling off failed projects.

This blog is right on, Big Fake Tits, aka Edie Laquer is a b.... Anyone who has been on the receiving end of her aggressive personality, knows this. How may old widows/widowers has she pushed out of their neighborhoods or "slums"? How many old men has she been able to manipulate and convince with those fake boobs and face? And, not to mention how she uses that pushy type-A personality as a weapon. Who really knows her victims because she "gives away so much money"............ yea to those who need it the least! Someone should ask the people NOT at the CAP parties what she is really like. To meet her victims just walk a few blocks from the CAP and condo parties and ask the homeless people, "formerly home owners of slum homes" what they think of the clever, stylish woman who, alone or with her "business partners"/front men (and they are usually men) bought their homes for peanuts and fliped it to a developer.

BRAVO FOR TAKING ON THIS genius of despair!!!!

You have guts, because she has friends. I am sure you will hear from lots of them.

Now, give an encore!

In response to last Anonymous:

as Ricky Ricardo would say:
"Lucy! What did you do?"

Gee, I didn't know I was taking her on...
I didn't know much about the woman except what I read in the Anemic Miami Herald. This was just such an odd photo, and even odder duo so I printed it.
But, hey, she doesn't look very strong. I think I could take her on.

Wonder why G.B. is smiling in that pic?

Speaking of trust, the following is the City Code that Mr. Arriola violated when he visited City Commissioners in December on behalf of....? How much $$ was funneled to the 'Sarnoff Campaign'?

The previous comment is too vague to understand. Is it against the law for private citizens to visit City Hall?

Campaign reports are public. They are on the City of Miami website and anyone may review them. By law, all donors are required to be listed.

Ok, I'm about a year late on this, but I saw the picture and the name and just couldn't resist. I used to work at a furniture store in the Design district that Ms. Lacquer - oops, I mean Laquer - ordered, nee, demanded furniture from once. Just once. She called (well, one of her minion called) and insisted that we find an out-of-stock piece that day (Friday) and have it delivered to her client by Monday. Yeah, right.
We told her gopher that it was at the manufacturer's plant in NC, where it would likely remain until business resumed on Monday. Well, that wasn't good enough. War would be waged, polar ice caps will melt and global water levels will rise if we don't get that damn buffet into an office by Monday. Oh wait, that stuff's happening anyway...

Needless to say, there was a lot of screaming and yelling and temper-tantrum throwing on the phone that day, until we contacted GOD or someone in NC and managed to find someone to haul it down to Miami by Monday. At which point another debaucle ensued, equally ridiculous, such that I have banished it from my grey matter to avoid losing IQ points. But she wasn't happy. And that store, (much to their delight), will be getting no more of her business.

Bully for them!

Seeing her picture triggered this memory, because I was aware of her reputation as a big wig/hot shot/whatever in Miami, but didn't know what she looked like. Now it all fits. She's a bitch on wheels if you ask me, tits on a stick, plastic and fake and shallow like many of the people here that have left me with a bad taste in my mouth about this city. Maybe that's just from the bleach fumes wafting off of her hair...
