Will Hurricanes (Weather) Bankrupt Our Country? By Geniusofdespair

With Flood insurance already 25 Billion dollars in debt, what will happen when the bills pile up from Hurricanes Harvey and the approaching Irma (now a category 5)? Fortune estimates that Harvey could cost up to $180 Billion. A lot of bucks.

Florida's budget is about $78 Billion. So we are talking about a lot of money for this hurricane relief. I believe Irma only hit as a category 3 and most of the damage was flooding. What if Irma hits the entire coast of Florida, as it is currently anticipated to, as a category 5?

I am headed out of dodge on Thursday.
