Climate change is here now, just not in the GOP Congress or White House ... by gimleteye

Climate change denier US Senator Marco Rubio hugging Big Sugar's Pepe Fanjul as Rubio announces his 2016 bid to be president of the United States

History will judge our generations of leadership very harshly on the climate and what we failed to do, to protect future generations.

We are on the leading edge of climate change. That is true and a fact, whether or not Republicans derided Al Gore for saying so.

Let's recap. After historic rains in the winter of 2015/2016 -- our DRY season -- we fell into a major drought. Notice how hot and dry it was in May? Now, flooding rains. The heaviest in a week in 26 years.

Climate change skeptics, including US Senator Marco Rubio and his new BFF Donald Trump, say, "the weather is always changing".

I'd like to ship them all to South Asia right now, without air conditioning, and watch how fast their tune changes. This, from Dr. Jeff Masters, "Category 6".
The last week of May 2017 and first week of June brought one the most extraordinary heatwaves in world history to Asia, the Middle East and Europe. The mercury shot up to an astonishing 53.5°C (128.3°F) at Turbat, Pakistan on May 28, making it Earth’s hottest temperature ever recorded in the month of May—and one of Earth’s top-five hottest reliably-measured temperatures on record, for any month. Both Pakistan and Oman tied their all-time national heat records for any month during the heat wave, and all-time national heat records for the month of May were set in Iran, Norway and Austria. International weather records expert Maximiliano Herrera details the great heat wave in this guest post.

Death toll increases 2 1/2 times with a temperature increase of less than 1 degree over a half century . Slight rise=grave effect Mike Ives article says.

This is frightening. Hottest temperature ever recorded 134 degrees in Death Valley.

There was an article in the New York Times about India temperatures -- see comment above.

The temperature is expected to be 114 degrees tomorrow in Baghdad and 111 in Riyadh. New Delhi will cool down to 100.

And Trump thinks the only cloud is over the White House.

Hey, a majority of clowns in Florida TWICE elected Rubio. We get what we deserve. Why would such clowns NOT get elected in Germany, Canada, France, a high school class?

Trump and Rubio's only constituents are their own greed.
