We apologize. Mrs. Akie Abe, Melania Trump should have taken you to the Everglades not to the Morikami Garden ... by gimleteye

Who in the White House advised Ms. Trump that Morikami was a good idea for a state visit? Please, @realDonaldTrump? Detail matters!

Through the eyes of the Japanese, a visit to Morikami calls attention to low culture in America. Tokyo, alone, has dozens of gardens where attention to detail -- and to nature -- makes Morikami a pathetic comparison. Sad!

Let me put it another way: you don't "make America great again!" by taking a Japanese state visitor to Morikami Garden.

Melania Trump could easily have hosted the wife of the Japanese Prime Minister, Akie Abe, in a visit to the nearby Everglades.

There are no other Everglades in the world. Since Japanese elevate gardens to the highest refinement in imitation of nature, a visit to the Everglades would have shown our Japanese state visitors something remarkable in nature.

To visit to the Everglades -- even in its vastly reduced diversity -- is to witness a natural kingdom that exists nowhere else. Great! Not Sad!

Has President Trump ever been to the Everglades, only a few dozen miles from Mar-A-Largo? Strange!
Delray Beach, Florida (CNN)First Lady Melania Trump is committed to continuing the White House garden tradition, showcasing her interest in a Saturday morning visit to the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens with Akie Abe, wife of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

"The First Lady has a deep personal commitment to her role as caretaker and nurturer, beginning with her family. She believes there is a connection between a child's mind and places of calm and beauty to be used as a tool for us all.

Seems like this thing with the election has gone from from critical to obsession. Clearly the Trumps could part the Red Sea and some would complain it damaged the delicated sea floor.

let's get back to ranting about global warming

Finally a story addressing soultions of global warming other than trying to chage the world's ecomony.
From today's Herald

“The main difference between the Netherlands and other places where you live on the edge, like South Florida, is that we realized 1,000 years ago that we had to change how we built the country.”

Hey Melania, why don't you show her the public garden in Trump Towers, filled with weeds and dead plants?

obsession? Trump might drag us into a war...a global war. Seems like that is now on the front burner.

Well, if that is the case, Trump supporters need to begin volunteering now for military service. They elected him, and they should put their lives on the line in a show of solidarity with their leader.

Having just visited many gardens in Kyoto and Tokyo for the second time, I can tell you that the Morikami Garden is not pathetic any measure. It is beautifully curated, designed and maintained and a museum of Japanese gardening styles and techniques. An apology is due to the staff and volunteers who maintain and support it. It is a local treasure.
