Tasty French Food: a big fat myth. By Geniusofdespair

For one who doesn't want food laced with butter, cream, olive oil and cheese -- and meat drenched in sauces -- don't come to France. My body is crying out for lettuce and string beans with nothing on it. frankly my body can't make up its mind what to do with it and it is not as if you can count on a toilet seat when on the road. I continue to expand and I am not enjoying it. I ordered vegetable soup last night looking forward to a clear broth, and instead got a cream soup.

No TV, except news, and over-rich food can put a damper on fashion week in Paris.

Yet they are much thinner than Americans! Spend some dough and check out Le'Arpege (in Paris), 15 course veggie lunch, super tasty. Or, you know, order a salad...

They walk it off.

They eat slower as well. I heard that's the biggest reason. And it shows, I was there two weeks ago and there were wide windows for lunch time closures for businesses. Even touristy places would be closed from noon-2pm.

While in Paris (I've been about 8 times), you have to check out Angelina's. 226 rue de Rivoli -- You're welcome. Oh, and if you want a good lunch, without breaking the bank, try Welcome Cafe at 210 rue de Rivoli (not too far from Angelina's).

I love Paris.

Thanks for all the advice. I have been walking around with a clipboard and everyone has been avoiding me.

I read My Life in France by Julia Child. The amount of indigestion she peppers throughout the biography is hilarious.
The only experience I can equate eating in France is like living on a cruise ship. Affluenza. The French eat well but they don't overindulge. It's a mindset that each meal isn't your last meal on Earth.

oh but the bread! and the pastries! or you can try Moules and frites - mussels and fries -- not so creamy.

Maybe its because of the constant smoking--they die before they get fat ?? DMD
