Warmed Over Candidate Joe Martinez is Back -- Running Against Juan Zapata for the County Commission. By Geniuofdespair

Joe Martinez please we had enough.

May 18th Joe Martinez threw his hat in the ring to run in District 11 against Juan Zapata.

This is very bad news. He is such a bad guy, we were so lucky to get rid of him when he had to resign. Joe Martinez had visions of grandeur and left the County Commission to run for Mayor of Miami Dade County. Joe has a PAC "Together for a Brighter Future", in which I am sure Gimenez will be raising funds for him. Joe the bully we can surely do without. Juan Zapata is so much better. Juan has $135,305 in his campaign account. He needs to ratchet up the fundraising. Zapata got money from Erik Fresen's Pac.

Politicians can't make it in the private sector so they come back to torture us AGAIN.

Juan Zapata, the guy to vote for without a doubt.

Zapata has done a wonderful Job. Please make Joe go away.

Juan is dedicated to the community and he really cares about the district. He is not afraid of Gimenez. Martinez will owe Gimenez big and become a sycophant for the mayor.

What on earth makes you think Joe Martinez is tight with Gimenez? Nothing could be farther from the truth.
Where do you get your information?

Our information comes from sources in the rumor mill.

The linkage between Gimenez and Martinez is common knowledge. Gimenez would do anything to rid himself of Zapata, including financing an election for the dormant, former Commissioner. Martinez lost every precinct in his own district to Gimenez because he never laid a glove on Gimenez during the campaign for Mayor. Everyone thought Martinez was running to be appointed Police Director, given his wimpy challenge to Gimenez. Now he wants to be a lapdog to Gimenez...disgusting. Just go away, Joe.

Does anyone remember Joe's cockamamie vision of a diesel commuter train that would run through Kendall and other communities and end up downtown? I remember it well because the train would be running a few blocks from my house! The county no doubt spent a good amount of taxpayer money on this nightmare idea.

No ones perfect but Joe never tried to get taxpayers to fund his studies at Harvard and he was visible and responsive to most of his constituents.

Joe Martinez voted Yes to force the taxpayers to spend $3 Billion on the Marlins Stadium. Bruno Barrerio made the Motion. Dennis Moss was the Chair...

Joe "I'm not a crook" Martinez cannot get a job in real life so he wants to insert himself on the taxpaying public giving out favors to developers giving him free stuff for his house, which cost far more than a useless Harvard degree these days.

Juan Zapata is no prize but he is better than Joe Martinez. Juan Zapata wants to keep waterfront Parcel B covered in asphalt and concrete. Juan voted to allow the broke promoters of the Cuban Exile Museum to take over the 4 waterfront acres. Of course, everyone knows they cannot raise the $120 Mil they need.

Follow the money.

As campaign develops compare who gave money to "His Arrogance" and who gives to MARTINEZ. Want to bet they overlap? The "we never get enough bunch" at County Hall are spending literally millions to keep the golden goose Gimeniz in office. They want to insure they squeeze every dollar from the tax payers they can in "His Arrogance's "final four years.

Zapata is one of two watch dogs on the Commission ... Daniela being the other. MARTINEZ is still positioning himself for a soft landing. Can you say big pension ?

Zapata and Regaldo will end the sack of County taxpayers by the Giminez lobbyists, developers, county vendors and family (Jr might actually have to get a real job)
Follow the money.

Juan

I find it so funny that people believe what they want to believe. Talk to County employees if you want to know what's really going on. Most posters here, as well as G.O.D have it completely wrong. The rumor mill is no place to get your information.

Taxes and fees are going up too quickly. Taxpayers are feeling the stress. Renters are getting priced out. Who benefits? Government employees, especially union members, who get incredibly huge pay and benefits packages. A fireman at the City of Miami is getting $450,000 per year and he will get a $200,000+ pension. Dude never fights fires either. Too much corruption.

Taxes and fees are going up? Check your facts. City of Miami fireman? There is a difference between City and County. Again, check your facts. No firefighter in the City gets paid $450,000/year. Pensions for City of Miami employees, all of them, are capped.

Next.

Zapata initially took an anti-employee stance. He has softened a little. One of the differences between Zap and Joe is that Zap can be educated on issues. Joe has his mind made up already on pretty much everything.

At the end of the day, we don't need a recycled County Commissioner who couldn't get elected to any other position so he is returning to the nest. Sorry Joe. You're out. Run for a seat on your HOA.

They are both egotistical morons who neither could function in the real business world, just look at all of Zapata's past present and future business ventures on sunbiz, what happen to the property management venture with his other two political buddies. Was that venture getting to HOT in the kitchen for him. Hell the guys even operated a Resturant out of his Out of District apartment where all his other businesses have been registered to, funny has he ever payed any Tangable Taxes at his office?? Lol

County firemen make less than City firemen BUT all their pay and benefits come from the taxpayers of Miami-Dade County. Fireman Kemp is getting paid $40,000 PER MONTH, his pay plus his DROP pay, plus he is getting a pension plus his take home vehicle plus other perks. Taxes and fees go up to cover the ever escalating public sector pay and benefit packages.

I think everyone agrees, including Zap supporters, "his arrogance" is an accurate term. The problem with arrogant people is that they are so confident of their moral superiority that they become wreckless politicians over time, get caught breaking a county ordinance or state law, and end up being forced out. - PB JEDI
