Daisy Black -- a very active Democrat, a former long-time president of the Democratic Black Caucus of Miami-Dade County and former Mayor of El Portal -- died at a Candidate's forum yesterday. She was running for County Commissioner against Audrey Edmonson. She was a lovely lady. This is a great loss for her family and for the community.

My deepest sentiments of sympathy to her immediate family and her extended political family. We lost a true and honest public servant. When she ran against me, She Was the epitome of class, courage and fairness. Never did she fire a negative attack. Our loss indeed.
Rest in paradise Madam Mayor.

What a shame Audrey Edmonson gets a walk over for her campaign. These County Commissioners should not be commissioners-for-life. Every one of them should get tested by candidates with better skills and better ethics.
