One of the worst County Commissioners we ever had -- Joe Martinez -- is threatening to run again even though he has not opened a campaign account for the District 11 seat.
I think that Carlos Gimenez hates the current Commissioner Juan Zapata so much that he would help Joe raise funds even thhough Joe ran against him for Mayor. The Mayor has spoken to Joe and Jorge Lopez is rumored to be behind the move to get Joe to run. Heaven help us if Joe Martinez gets back in office again. He was so toxic to the County Commission.
I like Juan Zapata. Maybe the moratorium he is requesting for his district has the developers up in arms against him. This is such bad news...I hope it does not pan out. Joe Martinez, the little power hungry thug tried for Mayor and for Congress, nothing worked so he is resurfacing for the County Commission. Ugh. Really, a barfable strong rumor till it is official. But, it would be like having Lynda Bell all over again, someone that the Mayor can count on to do his bidding: another puppet.

Pepe Diaz wants his amigo back. The Laurel and Hardy of Miami Dade politics. What's next? James Burke? Natasha Seijas? Time for Gimenez to take his pension and go home.
This smells bad. Maybe not as bad as "The Commissioner" cologne concocted by Joe Martinez, but close.
Zapata has been doing great stuff for Kendall. His innovation district out by Tamiami Airport, the improvements to the libraries, his efforts to give an identity to the amorphous Kendall area he represents by labeling it "The West End" has had a positive impact. The guy is creative and independent - the exact opposite of Martinez.
When Joe Martinez ran for Mayor against Gimenez he agreed with everything Gimenez said. We all thought he was running for an appointment as Police Director. His anemic campaign "against" Gimenez showed in the results - Martinez lost every precinct in his own district to Carlos Gimenez. Pathetic.
He'll be about as successful making a comeback as Dorin 'ya done good' Roll.
Zpata has been a ghost as far as us residents are concerned, unless of course we go to school in Harvard were we might bump in to him "studying" on our dime.
Juan Zapata is honest, open and available. He really cares about district 11. Don't fault him for wanting to get smarter about what he does. This is a man with integrity. We do agree to disagree once in awhile but I do understand where he is coming from.
He's paying his way at Harvard to earn a legitimate Masters Degree, unlike Katy Sorenson and Carlos Gimenez who hit the county for the $10K to pay for their "certificate" of attending the JFK School of Public Management.
Joe is great. So is Zabata, but let us face it Zabata turned his back to all the people who helped him get elected. Any surprise here..?
Pay back it a .....
Joe is anything but great. It is Zapata -- if you don't know his name you don't have the right to be critical.
Oh goodness. Zapata and his staff have been wonderful to west Kendall... He has accomplished upgrading parks, creating landscape in public places, devoted his team to problem solving, creating community by special events, did some great business seminars for the mom and pop grant and list goes on...
