Candidate Andrew Korge Sounds off on Turkey Point Nuke Plant Pollution...and Himself. By Geniusofdespair

Andrew Korge shows up for Environmental functions, I took this photo at a rally - proof. Republican Anitere Flores was not there but she is now very busy trying to Greenwash herself as her district has changed drastically.
I know Andrew is trying to win a campaign with his writing, but at least he is on the right side on environmental issues. Therefore, I am posting his what ever you want to call it. He calls it an op ed, I call it campaign stuff.

We do have to get Andrew elected unless another Democrat jumps in the race -- then we have to look at both. If we want to end the egregious behavior in State Government we need more Democrats to win because it is the only way to get real change in Tallahassee.  Aren't you sick of  having every conservative issue pushed down your throat and our Environment always coming last? After meeting Andrew,  I do think he will listen to us. That is one BIG reason to support him.

Andrew M. Korge - Candidate for State Senate, District 39

Over the last few weeks, it has been reported that the aging nuclear plant at Turkey Point is polluting Biscayne Bay and the Biscayne Aquifer. Specifically, the water is being contaminated with ammonia, salt, phosphorus, and unusually high levels of a radioactive substance called tritium, which are threatening the coastal Everglades and Biscayne National Park. Yes, you read that right – pollution from Turkey Point has led to an unusually high level of a radioactive substance in our bay water and it is only a matter of time before the pollution poses a threat to our drinking water.

After the dire situation in Flint, one would think this would sound off alarm bells at all levels of government. Unfortunately, that is not the case. The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), the state version of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), has refused to take the action needed to stop the pollution. Despite pressure from local political leaders and activists, the DEP refuses to ensure that our water supply is clean and safe.

To make matters worse, most of our political leaders in Tallahassee are asleep at the wheel. By refusing to provide the proper oversight and hold the polluter accountable, they are letting this happen. Why, you might ask? My guess is most of their campaigns are funded by the company doing the polluting, so they look the other way to keep the donations flowing, just like the radioactive pollutants that are flowing in our water.

My opponent for State Senate, Anitere Flores, is one of the politicians asleep at the wheel.

Incidentally, Anitere and her Tallahassee friends have collectively taken millions of dollars in donations from the polluter. South Florida’s future is in jeopardy because of this and other reasons, and I’ve had enough! As a 3rd generation Floridian, I am running for State Senate because I believe public servants should value our collective future rather than the special interests of donors. As the father of two young children, I want them to have a future in our community. I want to change the status quo and start prioritizing the interests of South Floridians. Otherwise, all of our children will be forced to build a future elsewhere.

If we don't start funding these Dems not in our district, things will never change.

Democrats also like big campaign contributions, high paying jobs for family members and revolving doors once they leave office -- think Joe Garcia and Bob Butterworth as two Democrats that FP&L counts as friends when in need.
