Jimbo Luznar, who was the owner of the crazy outdoor $1 beer bar known as Jimbo's on Virginia Key, retired because of illness several years ago. He has taken a turn for the worst. His family is gathering at his side.
Jimbo's was an institution in Miami since 1954. The area is now green space. Wouldn't it be great to have a dedication and call it
Jimbo Luznar Park.
Update: Jimbo in his usual manner of fight, is improving.

What a great idea. I'm sure lots of people would be for the idea of a park.
It is a park, we just need to stick his name on it.
Hugs to Jimbo and his family.
Naming the park after Jimbo is more than appropriate. Memories of Jimbo's should always remain. It was Miami AT ITS EASY-GOING, LESS COMPLICATED, BEST.
Is it really a park? It's just grass with no trespassing signs! So no one is using it. So soon the City of Miami will let some huckster have it for a restaurant or other private business like the boat Show. And oh yeah, let taxpayers build it. Because after all that land was not being used.
It's not a park. But at least it's open green space. But watch that space. The construction fence will go up soon.
