If it weren't for Darby, Pa. being number 1 we would have been tops. However we didn't do badly. Out of the top most dangerous cities in the United States, Miami Dade County had 2 cities in the top 20 ranking. We made it to number 2 with Opa Locka and number 3 with Florida City.

If Steve Shiver had become the city manager of Opa Locka, he could have brought all his experience to bear on making it a better place.
Lmao.
Just hilarious that this company used a Ramada Inn as the media photo for Florida City. Damn!
What do both cities have in common?
They incorporated as cities long ago?
IDK... They both have a disproportionatly large percentage of disenfranchised voters.? ...but only because convicted felons can't vote.
High percentage of residents living below the poverty line? 39.7% for Opa-locka (http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/12/1251650.html) and 47.6% for Florida City (http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/12/1222975.html).
How is Florida City below Opa Locka with over a 30% increase in crime?
It's almost as if they got less credit for more crime. I know some egghead will have the answer.
In 2014 Miami Beach was the top city based on a poplulation of 91,006. It had 10.33 per 1,000 residents. Property crime at 99.14 per 1,000 residents. Total crime report in 2014 was 109 per one thousand residents.
Why is this interesting? If you go to Trulia.com and search 33139 you will eventually find that Trulia uses SpotCrime.com and CrimeReports.com to rate 33139 as a low crime area. How do real estate sites such as Trulia.com list Florida City and Miami Beach as low crime? Easy. The police don't report daily crimes to SpotCrime.com or CrimeReports.com. You will never notice anything until you get beaten about the head. You will have to read the yearly FBI reports or pay a company who does this for a living and has accurate information.
Is this a racist item?
