Mayor Carlos Gimenez must not waste another day before severing the county's ties with Donald Trump, quickly fired by Univision and NBC for blatantly racist comments during his presidential campaign kick-off. By his silence, it is clear Gimenez prefers rubbing shoulders with Trump than spending a moment considering whether Trump feels the same way about Haitians, Guatemalans, Columbians or Venezuelans. Or Cubans. In Miami-Dade, we don't do business with racists. Stand up for what you believe in, Mr. Mayor. Thanks for Commissioner Levine Cava for raising the issue:

Dont't expect Gimenez to move against Trump. His son, Carlos Gimenez, Jr. Is the chief lobbyist for Trump. Also. Gimenez's campaign strategist Freddy Balsera is employed by Trump. Makes you wonder what Gimenez and Trump had in mind when they were planning on privatizing Key Biscayne golf course. Everything Gimenez touches has a foul odor. Time to send him packing.
Totally agree. Maybe Gimenez and Trump were planning a Cuban American-only golf tournament.
Read Miami Herald's reporter Douglas Hanks article regarding Special Taxing Districts this morning and I'm ashamed to say it sounds more like an apology for Gimenez than a serious investigative report. When and where did the great reporters of decades past at the Herald go? Taking quotes from the mayor's press officer and Public Works director Alina Hudak? Is that investigative reporting? How about digging up the causes for the sudden rate hike? How about showing up at Don Tok's residence for an impromptu interview or maybe interviewing former Public Works Directoe Esther Calas to find out what really happened? And to show the Estefan's residence as an example of the rate hike! What was Hanks trying to do here, put out a sense that only the wealthy are getting hit with this hike? Sorry Hanks, we do not buy your well concocted story. You are nothing but a Gimenez apologist, similar to Putney, Miriam Marquez, Bernadetter Pardo, etc. Stop trying to exhonorate Gimenez and do your job.
A television company controlled by Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim has canceled a project with real estate developer and TV personality Donald Trump after his comments insulting Mexicans, Slim's spokesman said on Monday.
This is the third company to cut ties with Trump, who is seeking the Republican nomination for the November 2016 presidential election. NBC said earlier on Monday that it would no longer air the "Miss USA" and "Miss Universe" pageants due to his comments. Spanish-language broadcaster Univision [UVN.UL] also said on Thursday it would not air the "Miss USA" pageant.
Ora TV, a production company co-founded by Slim and TV personality Larry King and funded by America Movil , canceled a program it was working on with some of Trump's companies, Slim's spokesman and son-in-law Arturo Elias said.
Trump had issues with Doral issuing him noise violations without using a decibal meter. He exposed corruption in Doral's code department. Many officals from Doral moved onto Miami Beach government. I take it the Miss Universe will never be returing to Miami Beach.
Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez has been leading a business development mission to Paris and Marseille, France which began on June 12 and runs through the 20th.
June 16th Trump made his remarkable Presidential candidate speech.
I hope our Mayor choked on a croissant in lovely, gay Paris, when he learned about his buddy's rant.
