The Yourth Fair: The Full Page Ad War against FIU Continues. By Geniusofdespair
Save the money from the ads Youth Fair's CEO Robert Hohenstein and use it to sue FIU. Nothing else will work. This is the second full page ad in the Miami Herald. It is a waste of money. Here is an excerpt:
Perfect example of how ridiculous and entitled we've become as a society. The Fair is acting like a spoiled child who has been asked to share its toys. The relocation won't cost them a dime and they are being brats because...? Just move and quit your whining. No sensible person is going to advocate for some old creaky rides over a solid education!
I graduated from FIU and I don't like them or their business plan. The Youth Fair has been at that location for many years and it should stay there. FIU can build up, not out. It doesn't need the land and we shouldn't pay for the re-location. FIU is the spoiled brat, not the Youth Fair.
"The relocation won't cost them a dime." Them? You mean us. We, all of the resident taxpayers, we live in this state. The state is expected to pay. Use of existing parkland, reduces accessibility for residents. There are so many hidden costs that your flippant comment is a total exaggeration.
This year, as part of his unending campaign, Hohenstein has sent free fair tickets to elected officials all over the county. Some municipalities have $25 reporting limits, so these officials now have the nuisance of reporting the gifts.
The Fair is acting like a spoiled child?? How about FIU - we want it - we can have it - and don't get in our way! They have plenty of other options - underutilized malls, for example. There is no rule that says that all of their buildings need to be adjacent to each other! They simply want the land cheap and easy. I hope the Fair does sue and the voters made to realize just how much they were duped.
FIU can build vertically. We are all fed up with these fake non-profits like U of M going into the real estate speculation game. Invade the Everglades much?
"Build up, not out" - I can't even begin to address how stupid this sounds so I won't.
Yes, the Fair is acting like a spoiled child. Look at it this way - if there was never another carnival ride, I'm sure society on a whole wouldn't notice the difference. However, if we had less doctors, lawyers, engineers etc., then that would be a problem.
Moving a few carnival rides still makes more sense than building a bunch of campuses all over Miami-Dade. Are the supporters of the Fair even listening to reason or just being SPOILED BRATS???
My point is that in the grand scheme of things, carnival rides and cotton candy will never outweigh the importance of an education and anyone who tries to argue otherwise is simply delusional.

Why don't they put the Fair at the mega-mall?

Educating students on how to force the breaking of a contract? A lease is a contract.
