The Miami Herald is lucky to have Jim Morin...and we are lucky to have Bow Tie Ben. By Geniusofdespair

Miami Herald Political Cartoon

And, Miami is lucky to have Ben Kuehne. Love Michael Pizzi or hate him, Ben is still fighting for Pizzi's return to office because it is RIGHT, he should be in office as he was cleared (I think this should take effect Jan. 1):

Did you see Ben's letter in the Miami Herald today, quite interesting:

Benedict P. Kuehne - Bow Tie Ben
Re the Dec. 27 story County wants forest land reclassified: I was shocked to learn from Miami-Dade Commissioner Dennis Moss’ quote that, “When Disney was looking to build Disney World, they came to Miami, and we told Disney to take a hike and they took a hike to Central Florida.”
I had no idea Moss was “in the know” in 1958 when Disney commissioned Economics Research Associates for a research study for a possible second theme park. That study recommended Florida as the premier location, and the 1961 follow-up study recommended Central Florida — Ocala or Orlando — not South Florida as the preferred location.

Then, in 1963, Roy Disney approved a confidential program to buy land in Central Florida under fictitious names, after Disney officials made a national tour to select the final location for the new theme park.

Moss was first elected to the County Commission in 1993. The groundbreaking began for Disney World in 1967.

I wonder who were the unidentified officials in then-Dade County who told Disney to “take a hike” when Disney does not seem to have ever expressed an interest in South Florida as a potential location for its Disney World attraction. To the contrary, official Disney history is that Disney particularly chose Central Florida in order to not compete with existing tourism areas on the Atlantic Ocean or the Gulf of Mexico.

Is Moss trying to pull a fast one on the Miami-Dade residents in his haste to pursue a massive theme park development in his district, contending that we lost a nonexistent opportunity once and cannot afford to do so 50 years later? The people of Miami-Dade deserve to know the truth. Public officials’ obfuscation and misdirection should be denounced. - Benedict P. Kuehne, Miami
What is going on in topsy-turvy (or as I call it Bizzaro-land) Miami this year? Do we have a prominent lawyer who care about truth from our officials (that aren't paying him, of course). An attorney who is going to hold county officials feet to the fire when they are making up stuff,  that's a refreshing change. Lies unmasked, I like it Bow Tie Ben.

Great piece by Ben. I like that he represents all those, good and bad, who are legally entitled to a proper defense, then turns around and, on his own time, calls bullshit on Commissioner Dennis Moss. Good to see the moral compass is alive and well after some of the goofy things Ben has said in defense of his paying clients.

I remember this discussion that Disney considered Miami Dade. However, the idea was rejected because of the site. The site considered was the Jet Port property located on Tamiami Trail (Highway 41). Personally, I am glad it was not constructed because it was then and still is environmentally sensitive land and in the Everglades. Mr. Moss tell the whole story. This theme park you want built is in environmentally sensitive land also.

Dennis Moss has a low IQ and worse, he has weak morals. Moss is the poster child for term limits. Who can forget Dennis Moss pushing the Marlins Scam and aggressively refusing to consider any amendments that might have made the Marlins Scam better for taxpayers. Moss was the Chair during that famous meeting.

I am still trying to figure out what Bateman actually did wrong... He asked the Race track to pay their taxes (as if that is uncalled for), Mayor Bateman brought 4 brand new high schools to the city, bringing ratings from F’s to A’s. What exactly has our new leadership done for us lately? The quality life he improved for the citizens of Homestead without ONE tax increase, is immeasurable, and the citizens don’t e” taxation without representation,” I don’t know what is!!!! Come on Keuhne, step it up a notch! This was one of the best Mayors that South Dade has ever seen!!! Your reputation as an defense attorney for politicians suggests that you fight for the good guys, and Mayor Bateman deserves the most accurate representation and advocacy, as he has not done anything to hurt the community he has spent his entire life serving!!!!
