I Don't Want to Write Today so...CLIMATE CHANGE. By Geniusofdespair

I woke up this morning and before I looked at the blog I said to myself, "I hope you wrote something Alan, anything even another global warming/climate change article" (cough). So what if this was the warmest year in history, I will be dead when the shit hits the fan. Not happening on Alan writing.  Some of our most recent posts have been brilliant, so go  back and read them,  Especially read the County Commission Committee changes Chair Monestime made....

So, here I am with nothing to write about except Ted Cruz, nitwit Senator from Texas. This is why I don't like Republicans even though I am one, the wackos rise to the top to wreak havoc on the rest of us. This is why the Senate shouldn't be Republican. They put Ted Cruz as Chairman of a Sub-Committee:
"The reversal of the U.S. Senate’s majority party is falling into place, and there is reason for concern over how new committee chairs will influence the agencies they oversee. Right now two big reasons are garnering the most attention: Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) will chair the subcommittee that oversees NASA, and Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) will chair to the subcommittee that oversees the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, or NOAA. Both have gone on record denying human-caused climate change."

On another note, here is your sea level rise fix.  Actually watch this damn video, it is about an upcoming vote on Climate Change Resolutions at the County Commission. Former Miami Dade County Commission chair Rebeca Sosa on Climate Change, you have to watch it.

Having problems? watch on YouTube

Thank you Rebeca Sosa. Call your County Commission tell them to approve these resolutions. I heard the LBA is going to challenge them so talk to your County Commissioner before the meeting January 21st.  Pepe Diaz is a sponsor because his district floods, not because he cares.

Facts and science are just unwanted information for the Fox News watchers. Cruz and other republicans are trying to put this country in the 21st century version of the dark ages.

After this "baby step" If Sosa and company is really serious about dealing with Climate Change sea level rise, the County should pass a resolution supporting the EPA Clean Power Plan which will reduce carbon emissions from power plants and also recommend Florida implement the EPA plan use of renewables: wind and solar.

Are Sosa and Pepe Diaz willing to admit that Climate Change is caused by human activity - burning fossil fuels that produce carbon emissions warming the earth today? If not, then this is all BS.

THE LBA will challenge every single pro-environmental initiative right up to the time they have to put on snorkels to start their cars. Or until the insurance companies pull the plug on their schemes. Go Jeb.

Why is EEL being destroyed by lack of funding? Voters created and funded the Environmentally Endangered Lands program to acquire preserve and protect our last vestiges of natural areas, including ecosystems like the endangered rock Pinelands that Miami Dade County now wishes to destroy for the perversely named Miami Wilds Theme Park pushed by Commissioner Moss and Miami Dade County Gimenez.

I think we should be clear in what's happening here.

It is meaningless and irrelevant whether commissioners believe in this or that. What the Commission will do at this time, or delay slightly because the timing isn't just right, is to begin to work with local and other agencies to begin the process of implementing adaptation schemes. This process is inevitable, LBA or no LBA.

The question is not whether adaption plans are adopted, but what adaptation and for who's benefit. Politics is about who's ox gets gored.

The elites already know how this is supposed to work. Planning powerhouse Elizabeth Plater-Zyberg has already said, publicly, that (paraphrase) "what you [sic] want to do is save those places of economic importance; the airport, the seaport, the financial district. Places you want to continue. Everyone else can buy rubber boots."

Working class, service class people can begin to think about rubber boot fashion choices. It is so taken for granted by the economic elites that there will be no democratic process, no common people involved in this process that such an statement would be made in public with complete immunity.

People of Miami-Dade had better start getting involved. You better start swimming or you'll sink like a stone.
