Green Gene trounced Shelley in Palmetto Bay. By Geniusofdespair

Once again Eugene Flinn is the mayor of Palmetto Bay. Congratulations, we hope that the turmoil in Palmetto Bay is finally at an end with some strong leadership and that all the bad boys behave and are kept at bay by Eugene. Especially that blowhard, bully. Flinn won 65% to 34%.

Let's hope that Gene hasn't sold his soul to reclaim his seat. The first test will be when someone brings up the Palmer Trinity lit field ordinance. Next will be whether the Town gives a ton of money to Wayne Rosen. I ain't holding my breath.

Rosen gave a ton of money to his 2010 commission run. Castillo ran the campaign of one of the new council members. Flinn better do right by the community and stand his ground on our behalf. No lights in that stupid Palmer Trinity field and no money to Rosen for an un needed charter school. And, keep Old Cutler green along with our preserves!

Palmetto Bay would benefit from a charter school. Flinn is going to be a welcome breath of fresh air on a fetid council.

Don't bet on it. Gene is an attorney and left office without resoloving the Palmer Trinity mess. Total failure. It was quite easy to shift the blame on Shelley and she took the heat. The "pine rocklands" issue is just heating up. This is privately owned land, when the owner moves forward to develop his property, zoning will have to be changed again. Otherwise Palmetto Bay will face another big fat lawsuit.
The bad boys will continue to misbehave unless they get what they want. Maybe a development contract with the village or other beneficial perks. Take a look at all the special interest groups contributing plenty of money to Gene's campaign. An indicator someone wants favors.
Watch out Palmetto Bay, it's not over.

Yes, pay heed Palmetto Bay! Green Gene took gobs of special interest money for his campaign just like Mayor Stoddard did in the City of South Miami. Now South Miami government is run by Chamber South and the city's new comprehensive plan and land development regulations are being re-written by those special interests that seek land use and zoning favors.

Good luck Palmetto Bay residents. The players that took Eugene Flinn for the ride? Wayne Rosen? Jose Luis Castillo? FPL? The fun is about to begin. Flinn's massive ego drove him to run as he realized he was otherwise irrelevant in Miami-Dade politics. Don't think for a moment all campaign contributions and expenses are reported. Don't think for a moment Larissa Siegel Lara all of a sudden decided to get involved in the community. JLC owns this Council just as he owns Cutler Bay. Stanczyk wasn't ever going to win a Politician of the Year Award, but she wouldn't play ball with the bad guys. If you do your homework on the Palmer Trinity debacle, it has Flinn's fingerprints all over it while Stanczyk wrongly got the blame. Yes,will Palmetto Bay Council meetings now run smoothly because everyone will already have their marching orders on any zoning or development matter?

2nd to last anon, I didn't support Flinn because I believe in the 8 is enough when it comes to public office. However, he was able to get elected and probably want to be re elected, so I doubt he is going to implode PB or lead the council that way. I also believe there is a recall provision in the charter to protect the residents from the council being taken over by the likes of "one eyed jack" JLC who is irrelevant except when given power by people like Lynda Bell, and where is she at right now?
