They are testing in a State where 76.5 of the students are white. 15.9% are Hispanic and 1.3% are classified as Black/African American.
Yes, it is Utah, the State so much like Florida.
School Superintendent Alberto Carvalho said in a tweet:
Field test in UT ensures reliability and validity of test in FL? No doubt, the likeness of demographics inspired decision.
Typical kid in Utah. Looks a lot like a kid in Miami Gardens or Hialeah. |

Hmmmm. They teach classes in Spaglish in Utah?
Carvalho is a bully and overly impressed with himself.
Who made this dumb decision? Wow - so not a valid field test!
Carvalho's a bully? I've dealt with him and he's always been a gentleman. The author of that comment obviously never dealt with Rudy Crew, who both a bully and a coward.
Carvalho is very similar to Gimenez.
Someone writing on this blog has a bone to pick with Carvalho. Any excuSe--- he writes the same exact thing. We got your message. Enough already.
I think I am going to move to Utah!

Utah inner city
Give me a break on your link. There is only 1.3% black in Utah. It looks like they are playing a game.
Who cares about the racial makeup of the test takers? Race is an artificial construct. Aren't we all humans?
It seems that Carvalho is already looking for excuses to explain why his students will do so poorly on the exam.
Anywhere in florida will do better than Dade and Broward it Utah is the test
No race matters. How many children in Miami are exposed to rye bread? Bridles? Spurs? Pens, as in pig pens? Our vocabulary is different.
How many children in Miami are exposed to rye bread? Ummm ... every child who walks into a supermarket. And they still sell Reuben sandwiches in Miami, right? What a ridiculous argument!
Vocabulary words that every child in Miami should know before graduating from high school:
rye
bread
bridles
spurs
pens
pig
I was at a cafe in Barbara Jordan's district. I asked for a grilled cheese on rye, the waitress had no idea what rye bread is.
