Erik Fresen AGAIN! By Geniusofdespair

Rene Garcia, Erik Fresen , Ernesto Perez (Dade Medical College owner) and Rebeca Sosa -- and nursing students.
Trying to put your health at risk Erik Fresen, the worst of the State Representatives out there, is trying to help the troubled Dade Medical College and put the communities health at risk (Nurses are not able to pass their licensing exams) the Miami Herald reported:
...on Tuesday, Rep. Erik Fresen, R-Miami, added a provision that would give struggling programs more leniency by allowing longer probationary periods before closure. Among the potential beneficiaries: politically connected Dade Medical College.
Do NOT VOTE FOR ERIK FRESEN dummies.  Read the whole article.

From a Fresen Supporter (x Supporter):

In 2007 Fresen served Homestead as a member of an EFBD educational facilities benefit district with Lynda Bell as the City representative, Steve Shiver, Paige Latterner, Fresen and a guy named Taylor Smith from Jacksonville were also on it. They tried to get Academica to open a school but the council decided to give Latterner's land to the County public schools and Gateway Elementary was built.

The Herald references the 2009 Mayor of Homestead meeting with DMC, that was Bell, it was after Bell's defeat as Mayor that Ernesto Perez (Dade Medical College owner) went wild in Homestead. There is evidence that administrative zoning events took place by Sergio Purrinos at the request of Mayor Bateman.

There are deep financial ties by Fresen to DMC he has appeared with Sosa on their campus. In 2010 his (Fresen's) PAC funneled cash to Bell. Rene Garcia, Carlos Trujillo and Eddy Gonzalez are all on the payroll of DMC. This is corruption in action. Ernesto Perez never had close ties to Lynda Bell, she wanted them to go through the Development Services process of the City. Bateman rammed everything through because he is not capable of respecting those processes as evidenced by his arrest. He has a lot in common with Fresen who should absolutely recuse himself from all school votes of any kind as should the Garcia-Trujillo-Gonzalez musketeers.

Fresen is absolutely out of control by sponsoring the legislation for DMC's horrible nursing program. Why would he want to unleash their failed nurses on society?

Fresen is all for high-stakes "accountability" for public schools, but his friend gets a pass for graduating bad nurses. This is dangerous and unconscionable.

I agree with Ross - Fresen is OOC. Next time I am in the hospital I am going to ask the nurse where they received their education. If Dade Medical College I'm asking for a new nurse.

The residents of this district now have a candidate with all the right qualifications and ethical standards needed to represent them. Daisy Baez will bring honor to the district, the county and the state legislature.

my head is spinning. Did you just write that Lynda Bell did something good as Mayor??? Wow.

She did do a few good things.

4th anon, you said what I was going to. But will add (pun intended) Bell at least held "the line" somewhere!

This is truly a public safety hazard getting back to the topic. There is also the issue of student loans being incurred they will not be able to pay back because they're not getting the education they need to pass the required testing. How about improving standards and raising the bar?

Yikes! What is it about our elected officials - Rubio, Fresen - both simple embarrassments.

Two weeks ago, I was at my Doctors office in coral gables. He is on a medical college faculty for a major university. He asked me how Dade medical college was doing. My doc asked because I had been several hospitals as a patient and he knew I lived in homestead.

I said I have never met anyone that graduated from there. He told me (i am paraphasing ) that the school is not teaching good health care and that they should be closed. He also noted that he never met anyone who actually was certified through them.

I told him it was my understanding that when the student's federal grant is gone, the kids are forced to drop out because they can not afford to finish... Therefore very few students make it out to the community, although I wonder if they could even make through the state licensing .

Fresen has an inside man. He must be exempt from lobbying statute of limitations, wink-wink. From the article: One of Fresen’s former legislative aides, Jonathan Janeiro, is Dade Medical’s co-CEO. Lawmakers filed SB 1036 and HB 1059 in response to a slide in performance at the state’s nursing programs.

Hello State Ethics Commission.

DMC is playing a game.
Advertising for students on bus benches and WSVN attracts a certain demographic who can qualify for student loans/grants.
They give them a power point education presentation and when the students fail their certification the taxpayers are left holding the bag of loans/grants that will never be repaid.
Rene Garcia and his Hialeah-Miami Lakes colleagues are being paid by these tax dollars. The circle of deceit is complete.
It's a terrible shame to actually get someone's hopes up to a brighter future that only will break their hearts in the end when they realize they can't qualify for certification and licenses.
This is the same game played with charter school teachers, young energetic and not certified teachers who eventually end up being certified and employed in the public school system after the charter schools abuse the hell out of them after they graduate.
There ought to be a law or two, Fresen should sponsor that, instead he looks like a fool.

Don't forget about Nelson Hernandez who is or was Dade Medical College's financial adviser.

ERIK, DMC IS 51 POINTS LOWER THAN THE NATIONAL AVERAGE!!! WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS? IN SIMPLE TERMS THAT EVEN YOU CAN UNDERSTAND, DMC's NURSES ARE NOT EVEN HALF AS GOOD AS THE AVERAGE NURSE, GET IT?

Fresen’s amendment to the House version addresses nursing programs on probation.

Nursing programs in Florida need to have a passage rate on the licensing exam that is no lower than 10 points below the national average. Dade Medical’s scores are usually far below that. In 2012, for example, the national average was a 90 percent passage rate. Dade Medical’s Hollywood campus had a 39 percent passage rate.

Republicans can choose Amory Bodin over Fresen in the Republican primary. If they are smart they will do so.

Recently hospitalized at Baptist hospital I had two excellent nurses throughout the different shifts. Both were graduates of DMC. Both told me they had passed their boards on the first try and were registered and licensed. During a four-day stay, I had many nurses care for me and I asked each one where they had studied. These two were the best.

Agree 100% with Chauncy above.

My God those teeth are bright!

No one agreeS with Chauncy. He never looks at the big picture. A few more Dems would balance out the crazy stuff going on in Tallahassee, filling up pockets of cronies.

fresen had a difficult race last time and this will prove to be even tougher to keep his seat. lets get rid of this clown

Anonymous said...

Can somebody confirm that Bodin is challenging Fresen in the primary? I have not seen that anywhere.

Anonymous said...

Yes, Bodin has filed to run against Fresen again. If the Republicans actually want to reform, they can. I don't think they do.

Taken from the "Find the Best" college website under student comments:

"Guys please do your research before entering these schools. They have 2 schools on probation. Their passing nclex scores January 2013..38%!!"

Dear anonymous, can you please provide the names of those two wonderful nurses? And the records that indeed show that they were YOUR nurses. Please back up your statements with facts.
