Marco Rubio, son of West Dade, made it all the way to the US Senate by enabling the radical right. He first won support of the Tea Party, but his failure on immigration reform followed the confusions of the Tea Party itself: discredited in the opinion of American voters.
Early in his career as a state legislator, Rubio adopted right wing talking points and policies devised in conservative foundations far from Tallahassee. He emerged as a top Jeb Bush loyalist. In his 2010 run for US Senate, his campaign finance base coalesced around Charlie Crist's enemies, including Big Sugar in Florida desperate to erase tough pollution standards.
Looking forward to Rubio's future, first look back. Jeb! anointed his favored legislator with a sword when everything looked rosy with the conservative world. What fun. Jeb, himself, crowed from the top of the housing boom in Florida that his main purpose was to demonstrate how to shrink the size of government so it could fit in a bathtub to be drowned there.
Now Senator Rubio is a hawk on US foreign relations. He is apparently an expert, joining the ranks bashing President Obama on Crimea and Ukraine. Before becoming a mouthpiece for the radical right, what did Rubio study about exercises of American foreign policy in relation to the tortured history of the Ukraine?
What does he know? Well, for certain, he has embellished his own family story of exile from Cuba. He supports a foreign policy to Cuba that maintained dictators in power for half a century and an embargo that stands for failure. In Miami, hatreds of Castro mobilized Cuban American block voters to deliver reliable GOP majorities in Florida's largest and most politically influential county. That is, until the demographics began to change.
There is no possible outcome of US intervention in Crimea, other than organizing neighboring independent nations in case Putin gets it in his head to do more invading.
Think about this: allies America needs -- allies Rubio and his ilk are ordering about -- watched US interventionist policies after 9/11 with amazement and confusion. With another Bush considering a run for president in 2016 -- a leader of compassionate conservatism -- one could imagine Marco Rubio slipstreaming or even running point for a Bush presidential campaign.
In either case, American voters ought to pay attention. Never mind the history of the Ukraine, pay attention to West Dade.

First let's start with something Crowley Political Report has been saying for a decade - Jeb Bush is not going to run for president. Yes, Jeb says he is thinking about it. Yes, there are some folks who would love to see him run (although that apparently does not include his mother).
Jeb is just being polite when he says he is thinking about it. Of course he is. It's hard not to when Republican operatives, the national media, and Bush admirers keep urging him to think about it.
As a side note - it should be remembered that Bush has not run for office since his 2002 reelection campaign for Florida governor.
Today, a new ABC/Washington Post Poll suggests that it would be an uphill battle for Bush to win the White House.
Rick Klien, ABC political director, writes:
The poll has plenty of good news for Hillary Rodham Clinton. Two-thirds of Americans say they’d consider voting for Clinton in 2016, and a full 25 percent say they will definitely support her. Again, among all Americans – not just Democrats, or Democrats and independents – one in four say they are fully on board for Hillary Clinton right now, no questions asked.
As for Jeb Bush? He has the rock-solid support of just 6 percent, a level that puts him alongside Mike Huckabee and Gov. Chris Christie. He ranks below Sen. Rand Paul, and even Mitt Romney.
What’s worse for him, nearly half of Americans – 48 percent in the poll – say they will definitely not support the former Florida governor for president.
Ouch.
As one close Bush adviser told CPR, "Jeb has a good life, why would he want to put himself through a campaign."
Maybe Jeb should listen to his mother and end the speculation now.
Prediction: Hillary will not run.
- Too old
- Poor health
- Benghazi
- Too many skeletons
If Clinton runs she wins hands down. We feel comfortable with her, and we trust her motivations and her actions. We have watched her grow and develop in the glare of public light over a number of decades, have observed how she approaches problem-solving, and feel confident she could go a good job no matter what emerges on her watch. The women of America will make the call and without question, if she runs, she will be the first woman President in the history of the country.
The Clintons are funny creatures. No doubt, when they run, they win. They don't let anything or anyone stand in their way.
How can Hillary be a role model for women? She's the poster child for "Stand by your man" no matter how much he hurts you, offends you and cheats on you. Had she left him, and made a new, independent life for herself, then she would have earned my respect.
On average, women live longer than men and White women live longer than any population group. In terms of "skeletons" , the only one we are interested in is "It's the economy, stupid". When her husband was President, everybody had money, the economy was roaring, and we had a surplus. If she can pick up where Obama leaves off and continue to pull us in that direction we will all be happy.
"Her husband, her husband....." How contradictory to the feminism she proclaims. How "Latin-American"..... see Evita Peron, Cristina Kishner.
If a Republican woman ran on her husband's coat tails she would be tar and feathered.
Quite frankly, she has her own record and behavior over the years to run on. She first came to my attention during the first Clinton election when she told someone on national TV who was complaining about her husband, "Well, if you feel that way, don't vote for him then.". There were five or six men in the line up, and I immediately asked, "Which one is her husband?" So I began to focus on Bill and eventually became a Clinton fan because of his wife. No, she is a leader in her own right. He was fortunate to have her. Some could argue that he made it off of her skirt tails.
A lot of trolls afraid of Hillary.
Anon #3 "We feel comfortable with her, and we trust her motivations and her actions. We have watched her grow and develop in the glare of public light over a number of decades,"
We We We (Who the F$%K is We?
As for Bush I think the people and his own mom have had enough. Can we get past this Bush/Clinton crap haven't they done enough damage? You all must be gluttons for punishment.
"[H]is main purpose was to demonstrate how to shrink the size of government so it could fit in a bathtub to be drowned there." That line is so perfect. Well-written.
Hillary will not run.
If Hillary runs, you will find out who we are on election day!
Correct: many are terrified of Hillary.... And what she would do to our country!
Hillary will not run.
She is many things, but stupid isn't one of them.
The families of those murdered in Benghazi under Clinton's watch have vowed that they will stop her.
Omg how many ditto heads have found us trying to trash Clinton. It ain't gonna work trolls.
Well, one thing we know about Hillary is she won't create chaos, nor will she seek out trouble, but if it comes to her, she won't cut and run, she will stand and fight. . .
This post isn't even about Hilary! Who I am voting for.
You are correct. The post in not about Hilary, who I am voting for. It's about Marco Rubio, who I didn't vote for or will ever.
Ana Alliegro is on in FBI custody on her way back from Nica. I wonder if she will sing on Marco. This is like a bad novella.
hey has anyone looked into how Rubio was able to build his mega house at a time where he was unemployed? maybe he can start an infomercial and sell us his secret: how to become rich with no job and a wife that spends like it was water. all the while i build a mega house on two property lots. it may be a long title for his show but people would love to know his secret. it would be a best seller.
She will sing like a bird for her freedom. . .
Where's Ana: In Miami Fed prison for the weekend! Priceless!
don't forget that David Rivera and Marco Rubio owned property together for which collectively they couldn't afford
We need to start looking for a woman to run against him. The seat is too important to have someone who votes against Florida's interests and who has a crazy view of the world.
You know your are right about that. He is from here, but he doesn't sound like he is from here. He doesn't seem to be authentic, he seems strange.
