Sick of the Holidays Already. By Geniusofdespair

I hate this time of year but Sunday and Monday were ridiculous. I was in bed sick, only able to watch TV, more like listen, I couldn't even read the book I got at the book fair. What are the rug rats passing around this time of year? All I saw/listened to on TV were commercials for stores hawking Christmas. Black Friday officially starts at 8pm at most stores. Do you know that? If you work at Penny's, Sears or Target you should. Unless you are buying a car, then the ads are forever till Christmas. I cannot wait until January 2nd when things return to normal. Strangely, the Thanksgiving ads were pretty sparse. Maybe I am a big ticket TV watcher, Publix doesn't advertise on my station list.

Look at Gimleteye's post. He is also hawking Holiday gift giving. Where can I go media-wise to escape from holiday hype?

I have an idea for the plot line for "The Walking Dead". When electricity is partially restored and a cable television channel is found to still be operating, what turns out to instantly kill the zombies is a television advertisement to shoppers.

The survivors arm themselves with iPhones playing TV commercials; point and aim and play TV ads that finally restore the world. Yes advertising can set you free.

I hate all commercials. You need a DVR system to record and fast forward through commercials. Also, a Roku or some other type of internet TV. With all the options out there to avoid commercials, maybe its time to make out your list for Santa! Happy Holidays!

Podcasts from all over the world! I have a great collection on iPad. They are free, gratis! You can really disconnect from this dysfunctional town.

The demand for TV remains constant. Marketers need to realize that television advertising is still powerful.

I hate the holiday ads too, but they are preferable to the 'political ads' that invade us!

Marketing now is way too intrusive. In the real world, visually there is clutter all over the place with these unruly signs. In the virtual world, it is awful. Emails every day. Companies who find deals and bring them to you. Since we are not going to the shopping center, they are bringing the shopping center to us whether we want to or not. Every kind of product imagineable catered to your desires. To survive in this kind of environment one must be able to skillfully block a lot out.
