Sweetwater Mayor Manuel Maroño and Miami Lakes Mayor Michael Pizzi |
Both were arrested related to bribes on Government contracts in their towns. Two Lobbyists were also arrested according to
the Miami Herald. I would give my right arm to know the names of the two lobbyists also arrested. Sweetwater Mayor Manuel Maroño is the President of the League of Cities...I guess that is over. Rick Scott is suspending the two Mayors.

Jorge Forte I heard from a reliable source
MIchael Pizzi just through away his life and his legal career for a small wad of cash. The arrogance of the asshat. And since he got his client involved in the scheme, my guess is that the Florida Bar will immediately suspend him. Plus, Medley had grounds to fire him immediately. Bad day to be Michael Pizzi.
I just don't get it. What is wrong with these people?
Please, Lord, let there be a link in all of this to Lynda Bell either through the hiring of her daughter as a Sweetwater police officer with a take home car or through the City of Homestead towing contract related to the Sweetwater Mayor. The city contract happened in 2007-09 tenure of Bell, We can hope, cant't we ?1
I'm betting that Natacha Seijas is laughing her ass off today. First, Julio Robaina screwed her and is now awaiting his federal trial. Now, Michael Pizzi portrayed himself as "holier-than-thou" and has been revealed to be a punk and a thug. As John Lennon once said, "Instant karma's goin' get you."
Forte and Candia are the lobbyists. Adios guys.
Seijas, Morono, Gimenez - what do these folks have in common? AB ballots and a possible FBI file?
Wonder if Steve Bateman of Homestead is watching and waiting for that knock on the door?
Pizzi is innocent in this deal. He is being framed by lobbyist who are framing him to avoid criminal prosecution on themselves. eed to know the names? Becker & Poliakoff have a dirty lobbyist in their employ named Jose Keichi Fuentes who in turn used his otherwise useless partner Richard Candia as a stooge to file a false report with the FBI. You need only have listened carefully when the FBI gave their press conference a little while ago. Even they say Pizzi wasn't in it for the money. He was viciously framed by big money powerbrokers who feel bulletproof to make audacious claims and do anything they can to divert suspicion from themselves. It is a shame for Miami Lakes to have to go through this action on their mayor just for protocol. This kind of foolishness may erupt again soon in some other politically charged arena as it becomes a way to blemish someone when they are innocent.
And why haven't they arrested David Rivera?
Ms. Lassiter,
That is a very serious accusation you are making and I'd be interested to know your sources. From my end, I have personally known Jose K. Fuentes for many years and I do not believe the allegations you are making against him. It's simply not in his nature. He is one of hardest working and honest individuals that I have ever had the privilege to meet. For as long as I have known him, his main focus has always been to help others, especially in the various communities throughout Miami-Dade County. You may not agree with his politics or positions on one or more issues, but my recollection of him was that he believed in treating everyone with respect and fairness, and that if there was something he could do for the common good, he'd be there. I know of many others that would agree, and I challenge you to provide proof to the contrary.
I too questioned the comment about José, not because it's not "in his nature", but because I don't think he is smart enough to do it.
About his honesty: Please explain why his connection with the Wren group and Frank Bernardino has disappeared from all his bios.
I hope this is not true about Michael Pizzi. He takes on pro bono causes and always fights for the little guy and for the environment. And a setup by a Becker Poliakoff lobbyist seems plausible to me. Isn't Becker Poliakoff the same lobbyist firm that's home to Miguel diaz de la Portilla and George Burgess and advocates for FPL and red light cameras? If so, I don't trust them as far as I can kick them.
Do you ever wonder if the FBI is hanging out reading this blog. WOW, EOM, your stock just went way up.
Keep those posts coming.
Ladies and Gentleman,
There is more to come. Just be patient.
Cases Still up to bat are:
David Riveras' arrest.
Ana Sols' arrest
The Deisy Cabrera conviction and Sergio Robaina pleas deal for AB fraud.
Julio and Raiza Robaina Plea deal
Morono and Pizzi Conviction
Hialeah Mayor Carlos Hernandez arrest for involvement in the Ponzi Scheme.
South Florida is about to light up...
Ain't gonna be no knock on Bateman's door. This is big-time heat. Bateman's stuff is bogus.
Isn't Jose Fuentes involved with Wayne Rosen and Homestead?
This is a sad day in Miami Dade County. Mayor Marono and Pizzi will have their say in court. Usually when the FBI file charges and arrest its serious. Commissioner Bell seems connected to Mr. Pizzi from the days of being Mayor of Homestead.
Bovo and Diaz are connected to both.
Forte was Bovo's chief of staff. I wonder why it hasn't come up anywhere. Was he chief of staff and lobbyst at the same time. hmmmm...
It's about time Pizzi was exposed for the petty thug that he is! He has a file at the State Attorneys office that is 9 inches thick, if anyone cares to look, he is a crook and has been protected by Rundle's office because he went to school with them. There is so much more to come... Serves the idiots right who voted for him in the first place. They all were warned about him. Karma is a bitch! Those big blue eyes should serve him well behind bars. How many complaints do you think it took to get the FBI to launch an investigation. Wake up, Don't you know what a sociopath is? He will go down in flames professing his innocence. I just hope he takes a few minions from the Council with him.
I believe Pizzi is innocent, he is not liked because he is straight forward in your face type of guy and Miami politics is underhanded and does not want anyone like that to shake the boat.
It is a sad political culture we have here. So many in Broward are now in jail. Now it looks like lots of Dade County politicians will be joining them. The message has got to be clear that only those who want to help people and serve the bests interest of their communities need to apply. You have not won the lotto when you get elected.
how about this one since authorities are reading the blog: Commissioner Lynda Bell gets her daughter a job at Sweetwater PD... Did the same thing when she was mayor of Homestead...
Jim H has been hacked, that was not his post 8/7/13
Seemed like Jim H the usual incoherent Steve Bateman lovefest was front and center.

County Commissioner Bovo and those he hires seem to show up often in local scandals!?!?!?!?
The fact is, law enforcement doesn't spend the time and manpower on a sting unless they are going after someone who is suspected of wrongdoing through a pattern of behavior. Obviously, the FBI got wind that these individuals were up to some bad stuff, so they created a sting operation that would catch them in the act.
Bigfoot,
I agree 100% but no one seems to care.
Notice how Forte's employment history starts with Chief of staff to Marono, to city manager of North Bay Village then lobbyist.
Forte was Bovo's chief of staff while being a lobbyist, just look at the dates yet no one cares.
Just like that girl was working as AB broker while being Bovo's constituent staff.
No one cares.... what a shame...
I hope this investigation is not over. The hole sweetwater police department needs to be investigated for police brutality.
My brother is innocent! He loves our home town Homestead and has always had it at his best intrest! He has done so many good things for the people and town of Homestead.I love him and my heart cry's to here the horrible alligations that are being said about him.If he is found guilty he will still walk with his head high!!Shelly Bateman Averick
