So how DID Barbara Jordan buy her Key West properties at such a low price????
There should be a law prohibiting Hialeah voters from participating in elections. Kind of like a penalty box in hockey, except for voters. Seijas, Bovo, Martinez ... never stops does it.
Wasn't Jordan a County employee? How does she accumulate that much?
Red Flag for Barbara Jordan and Lynda Bell. Lynda Bell was cleaning houses before she became mayor of Homestead. Now she is worth a quarter million dollars. Barbara Jordan must be hiding money for her brother for life mayor in Florida City. I think they all go into office fairly, honest then corruption and greed takes over.
Politicians in Miami know they can grow their Net Worths by getting elected. Look at Spence-Jones. She started with a single figure Net Worth and now, eight years later, she gets to retire with a $2 MILLION pension.
Heyman has a higher net worth than Pepe?
Who knows what is held in the names of spouses, children, parents or other relatives? I suspect some of these are low balls. I don't believe Moss has so little worth.
Not sure how to interpret this post. Are we upset when our leaders have money? So they're not 'one of us' and can't relate to us? But then when one of them only has a small amount we don't think he can handle a big county budget?
I actually budgeted better and was more responsible with my money when I wasn't making as much.
What is a good amount for a county commissioner to have?
So basically Bovo is like the rest of us middle class residents.....leaving within our means and not profiting from his political position?
I want my elected officials to be folks that don't use their position as an elected official to line their pockets. Some of our Commissioner have profited greatly from their positions.
If you don't even remember you have a job to declare, then maybe you aren't fit for office.
You might be making as much as this guy Bovo, but you aren't running a multi-billion dollar enterprise. That is why lobbyists run the show. The people we elect are morons who can't even balance their own budget.
To: Not sure how to interpret this post.
I provide information. Use your own lame brain to interpret any way you want. I am not going to tell you how to think. I briefly said what I thought of Bovo and Suarez's penmanship.
It is amazing that so many politicians have little or no money YET they aspire to elected office where they always end up with lots of money working 2-3 days a month. Look at Miami commissioner Wily Gort. At age 70 after "working" for 50 years his Net Worth is $300,000. Yet he loves being commissioner and he barely shows up for meetings 10 days a year.
Gort loves being paid for his "no-show" job.
Barbara Jordan became a multimillionaire feeding at the government trough with her six-figure Miami-Dade County job and her six-figure Miami-Dade County pension. It is disgusting how these corrupt government cronies bleed the taxpayers with their ridiculous salaries. When has this blog ever shined the light on Miami-Dade's outrageous compensation system?
Do you think I have time to research every subject that my readers think up? I am exhausted...write to the Herald and tell them to write about it.
I think Bovo is lying by omission. He is not reporting everything he has. His wife has a cushy job with Marco Rubio makes good money and I'm sure he works too, or does he? With so many years in politics, he has learned to file the state form in a way that doesn't show his real net worth. Either that, or his liabilities are much higher than his assets resulting in a low net worth. It only validates Genius' point of not knowing how to balance a budget. No, he doesn't live within his means like the rest of us... He just doesn't know anything about budget. Remember he took a crash course from VNS when he first started. I wish Rebecca would not have appointed him to such an important committee.
FBI, FBI, FBI.
How about disgraced ex-Mayor Manny Diaz? One year while he was Mayor his "cash on hand" went up $400,000. Nice trick on a $150,000 per year salary. He refused to explain why. Later, he retired on a $200,000 per year City pension, for which he contributed not one cent.
Lame brain here:
Wow. I show conflict over how to feel about your post and you resort to calling me a lame brain.
Thanks.
Just so you know, this lame brain has 2 doctorate degrees, is on the board of 2 civic organizations, and spend 12 hours a week with an underprivileged youth organization.
Thanks for the name calling.
And my net worth is lower than Jordan's but higher than Bovo's.
Hi lame brain, glad you are so smart. Just about everyone I know is in your bracket. So what do you think of your leaders making less than you with no Nest egg? A financial planner would be reading 9 of them the riot act.
Genius says think for yourself and you have a problem with that? You are pretty lame.
So-called "Leaders" and the unindicted coconspirator elected officials are just scamming as much money as they can from the taxpayers while putting in as few hours as possible.
Lame brain here,
I never said I couldn't think for myself. My problem is with calling people names.
I said I didn't know how to interpret the post. I guess you've never had a conflict about something. Maybe I can see both sides of the coin.
Obviously I don't want having a commission post to be lining the commissioners pockets. But if someone is wealthy or if they don't make much money does that mean they're not fit to be a Commissioner? Most of these morons aren't fit to be commissioners but it has nothing to do with their net worth.
My net worth doubled the week after I started a new job. You know why? Because my brother died. And there was a life insurance policy. So all the commenters who are making assumptions about commissioners simply based on the numbers provided means maybe they're the ones who can't think for themselves. I'm at least questioning things.
Said my piece. Done.
Then how does Mr. Bovo pay for private school and his wife's Mercedes? Not to mention his giant house.
Glad to hear from you again Lame Brain. I amuse myself sometimes at the reader's expense. don't take it personally. I didn't mean to insult you I just want you to pose your own answer, which you finally did. Actually I think I dragged a very good answer out of you.
You realize that some people only read the comments? Anyway, you posed two sides of the coin (and I noticed you also called them MORONS, it is easy to fall into name calling on blogs isn't it?). Anyway, stay around. I like the name lame brain for you, not that you are, but so I can recognize you.
Like Rubio once did, he is also a consultant to Miami Children's. He must get paid for that?
So here I am, up in the woods. Been hiking with the dogs everyday. My blood pressure is down to a manageable level and then what happens? I decide to read Eye On Miami. Jesus! Kendall developer scams, politicians feeding at the trough. I'll be home tomorrow. Thanks GoD and EoM. You do good work and I for one appreciate you immensely. I am not being facetious.
