Marlins, Then Dolphins Now The Miami Heat Want Our Tax Dollars. By Geniusofdespair

Look who has his hand out for MORE public dollars: Billionaire Mickey Arison, Miami Heat owner.
The stadiums and arenas handouts are going to break the Miami Dade County Bank.

Now the Miami Heat are asking for our tax dollars.  Come on Mickey Arison, as of March 2013 your net worth was $5.7 billion.  Give the taxpayers a break. Stop with the begging.

The Miami Herald wrote (pay attention to this first paragraph):
"Miami-Dade pays the arena $6.4 million a year under a deal that runs through 2029. In exchange for building and financing the $360 million arena on county land, owner Micky Arison negotiated an agreement that includes the yearly subsidy and a profit-sharing formula that has yet to deliver any money for Miami-Dade." And:

"Last fall, Heat executives formally exercised their right to negotiate a 10-year extension with the county. While the team technically rents space from the arena, both business entities are part of the corporate umbrella run by owner Arison, the CEO of Carnival.

Public dollars are sure to be a sticking point in the talks. Lopez said to fund the Heat’s planned upgrades, Miami-Dade may need to increase its current subsidy to as much as $17 million a year in the extended term that would begin in 2029."

What gall and what greed! The public is still waiting for the park on the parcel behind the arena and they are asking for more subsidy? Give me a break.

The Miami Heat and its billionaire owner Mickey A. has never paid a penny in rent. In fact, the taxpayers of Miami-Dade County pay $6.4 MILLION per year to make the AAA Arena look better so Mickey A. can make more money. Taxpayers deserve to have County managers with balls and brains, not the idiots we are used to. Anyone remember the $3 BILLION Marlins scam and George Burgess?

You don't shot, you don't score! Let's block the shot.

Heat haven't paid a penny in rent since Day 1. Heat's revenues exceed $70 MIL per year? More?

Every ten years these stadiums need upgrades. Knock down existin stadium make it a park, give tax credits for office buildings and grow a real economy, not one based on entertainment.

Why wouldn't the team pay the county $6.4 a year in rent, instead of receiving a subsidy in that amount? And now they want to increase the subsidy?

Doesn't Jorge Luis Lopez work for Mayor Carlos Gimenez?
Carlito just looks scummier with every passing day. He not running a Mayors Office, he's running a lobbying firm!
Just gross!

Mickey A. will spend millions upgrading his cruise ships after all the disasters and lawsuits his ships have encountered over the last few years. So he is trying to sucker punch us. I am hoping the county politicians and staff understand we love THE HEAT but we will not go along with this. I would think they should be paying the taxpayer. We have really been HOODWINKED in Miami Dade County.

Miami-Dade managers and politicians get out smarted and outmaneuvered on every deal. Carlos Gimenez and his team of dopes. Gimenez even did a deal to give $400 Mil to the billionaire Steve Ross so he could add luxury box seats. The Heat are long overdue to pay rent.

Pay some rent, Mickey. And,while you're at it, don't forget to build the soccer fields you promised.

This may explain the $40 million extra-surplus that has been built up by Gimenez in the health insurance trust fund. On Tuesday, the county employees are outing this stash of extra savings that the Mayor and his tricksters have been building up. I heard the press conference is scheduled at the Government Center at 12:00. Sorry, Mickey...the Gimenez savings account won't be going to your arena.

Carlos Gimenez is constantly kissing the asses of businessmen who steal from the taxpayers.

Carlos Gimenez needs to learn to fight for the vast majority of taxpayers, not just the handful of "usual subjects" who funnel money into his coffers.
