Two N Garvin, their right-wing columnist slash TV critic wrote a biting review of the made for TV movie about Elizabeth Taylor. Garvin starts out with:
"Liz & Dick, Lifetime’s movie about the tempestuous relationship between Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, contains a dumbfoundingly stupid moment near its beginning. Well, it has a lot of dumbfoundingly stupid moments, about 127 minutes’ worth, near the beginning, middle, end and continuing into the nightmarish flashbacks you will suffer for days after viewing it until you sink to your knees in prayer for the sweet bliss of death."
Curious to see where he was going with this review, I turned to the follow-up page as directed (yes I am one of the dinosaurs that still gets the newspaper). Guess what? No Garvin. The Miami Herald finally cut him off. Mistake or Freudian slip?

Glenn Beck also has two n's. Maybe it is a Conservative thing. I vote for mistake over slip.
You may not agree with Garvin's politics, but he is a very talented writer. He is also more of a libertarian than a right-winger (he has been an editor for Reason magazine for the past 20 years).
Garvin is also a man of integrity. He provided key testimony recently on behalf of photojournalist blogger Carlos Miller who had been arrested when Occupy Miami was dismantled.
Not sure why all the Garvin hate. You won't be happy until the Miami Herald has 100% left-wing staff instead of the current 95%.
Um, you answered the question in previous blog post: "The newspaper's underlying financial difficulty, through which reporters and staff have been both cut to the bone and required to take monthly 'furloughs'"
Look for correction tomorrow along these lines: Due to a production error, a story on Liz & Dick was not printed in its entirety. You can read it on page XX.
Steve, what did I say about Garvin that leads you to think I HATE him. Why do readers READ IN what is not there? I am sure Garvin is in agreement that he is right rather than left leaning. Read my blog post again and don't put words in that are not there.
Why do Republicans think that Democrats would prefer Libertarians to plain old Conservatives? Steve corrected you on Garvin as if it makes a difference on which he is.
Libertarians have morphed into Republicans even taking on their social views, like opposition to choice. That opposition speaks strongly to the collapse of Libertarianism. They are no longer able to cry foul to being labeled as conservative Republicans. Ron Paul did run in the Republican primary.
Do you see me writing disdainingly about Pitts? I disagree with practically everyting he opines, but I'm happy his (articulate) point of view is published. I wish the left would similarly agree with writings from folks like Garvin.
I really don't care what you write about Pitts.
I have no doubt that Glenn (with two n's) is a very nice person but that has nothing to do with his writing style. I just don't like the way he expresses himself.
Read the review in the paper today. I have a hunch he didn't like the LiZ made for TV Bio
The thing that is sooo irritating about him is that he uses any opportunity to bash democrats - The Herald seems to have no problem with his writing political opinion under the cover of "reviews". I do - so I simply don't read anything with his byline.
