Hats off to El Nuevo and Miami Herald reporters (Marc Caputo, Manny Garcia, and Scott Hiassen). They've picked up the thread of the Ana Alliegro story and yanked it hard. One wonders what other stories she has to tell, if she will ever get a chance to tell them to law enforcement, if she tells them truthfully, and who exactly gets scorched as a result. Alliegro appears determined to hide out, until the November elections have passed. Too bad: this is her fifteen minutes and if you are a Republican wondering why it makes sense to withhold your vote, you won't get a more easy-to-understand story than this.

One would think that Sternad would be cooperating with authorities. He's a broke bloke with nothing to lose. Unless he's been threatened. If I were him, I'd be wearing a wire and recording all telephone calls.
Don't stop with Ana. Hiaasen, et. al., should put Lynda Bell in, to quote Sarah Palin, the "crosshairs", thus exposing her little den of corruption.
What a mess! And I live in this Congressional District, so I feel like I am a part of this crazy story. Imagine this Congressman is now casting votes representing us in Congress and the world. But let everyone clearly understand, I did not vote for him to be there. It was other voters in the District who made this poor choice. Now people all over the country are looking at us with pity and disgust.
Sternad finally cracked!
He had to crack, he has a wife and FIVE children. Why would a man risk his freedom and everything important to him especially the love and respect of his children for a crazy thing like this? Of all the people they could prey off, why would they select this man for this scheme?
