Absentee Ballot Brokers also Work at Polls. By Geniusofdespair

The Miami Herald and El Nuevo Herald reported that these absentee ballot collectors - like Julio Robaina's uncle (recently arrested), also work the polls on election day. Could it get much worse?

The Herald has had some great articles the past two weeks. I just hope prosecutions come out of all of this and/or someone starts talking - soon!

Unfortunately it does get worse Genius, I guess you didn't see Charles Rabin and Scott Hiaasen Saturday's story "Hialeah Vote Fraud probe mirrors 2004 case." Commissioner Bovo's staff was investigated on vote fraud back then. The story mentions Alfredo Llamedo (Bovo's campaign staffer in 2004 who was trained by Robaina's El Tio) was questioned because he was collecting absentee ballots.
Today, that same guy is still Bovo's staffer at the County.
Bovo has two or three elderly Commission Aides that I guarantee you work the absentee ballots just like Llamedo. Bovo keeps them on the payroll and uses them at every election. Paid by us--taxpayers. Shameful...

I wonder how much longer we are going to put with this! Our votes don't count. They have not for a long time. The deal is sealed long before the elections. I remember in the elections of 2009 that many, including the Miami Herald determined that the 2 candidates running in the City of Miami District 4 races were Francis Suarez and Manolo Reyes. There were 4 candidates running. Rodrigez-Fonts and Denis Rod were also running. But the "Powers" decided that they were not. And it reflected in everything. Running a clean campaign was not the issue. I know that there were absentee ballots were bought. But even though it was reported - no one did anything. It was not important then. Where are those 2 candidates that ran clean above board campaigns now? I would like for us to learn from the past so that we can fix the broken system for all our future!

I recall the major plank in Bovo's election platform: "If elected I will open a district office." Now we know why he felt that was crucial...so he could use taxpayer money to conduct campaign activities, far away from possible observers in County Hall. This guy has to go.

Don't you think the elections department should at least ask potential poll workers if they work for any political campaigns? The county elections department appears to be completely incompetent.

Recall BOVO now!!!!! Everyone sign....

Natacha Seijas didn't have a district office. Bovo is starting to make me long for when she was on the commission. She was cranky, but she was not a crook.

The fact is that Miami-Dade County is corrupt. Candidates and their followers don't miss a chance to use underhanded, down and dirty tactics to get what they want and it will not stop until they are put away in the big house.

Do I believe there is corruption (aka absentee ballot fraud) in every district? But for a few that I am certain do not practice corruption, YES!

The question is how do we stop it?

We can moan and groan that the Ethics Commission is sitting on their hands while corruption festers, but the fact is, unless we give the Commission the tools to fight corruption, it will not stop. We need to give them subpoena powers to arrest and jail perpetrators.

This will have to be done by our sitting state legislators in Tallahassee. And the language in any legislation has to be strong and tight with no wiggle room for anyone to crawl through. So, let us put their feet to the fire and demand that they give the Ethics commission what they need to do their work with results.

If this is not done, we must remove absentee ballots from the election process and the bus loads of people who are paid cash money to vote the way the so-called “consultants” tell them to.

Failing that, we may as well sit back and keep quiet because the only thing that will stop this corruption from festering is to put these chronic liars and scum in prison to do hard time.

The ethics commission? I don't think so. We need the State Attorney. Ethics is a paper tiger.

When you have campaign managers like Steve Marin, Wilbur Jackson, Francoise Illias and Al Lorenzo you will have corruption.

RE: Bovo's staffers.. County Commissioners should refrain from hiring people who have been involved in investigations. Especially in voter fraud! Bovo thinks he is still in Tallahassee where everything goes. Although we do no have a real State Attorney, us, voters keep an eye on politicians.

Bovo wants to propose that all ballots have a stamped return envelope? Haha.. who is he kidding? What he needs to do is stop using our taxpayers money to hire vicious elderly ballot brokers to cover his dirty campaigns. Bovo and his legislative adviser obviously don't have a sense on budget management nor respect for taxpayer's money.

Genius is right. Rely on the State Attorney. File complaints and they must investigate them. Stop talking, get active, and file a complaint.

Get the system, as flawed as you may think it is, to work for you. If enough of us stand up to these fraudulent manipulators the current corrupt practices will end.

It appears that so much absentee ballot fraud occurred in the primary election that the citizens of Miami-Dade County should join together in a class action suit to invalidate the entire election.

Hold the primary election again in November and the General in April. The State Attorney and the local jurisdictions can monitor the street for fraud.

A few very severe jail sentences might help solve the problem.
