Congratulations to Groupama. By Geniusofdespair

Groupama off Miami Beach
Miami was the only U.S. stop for the the Volvo Ocean Race. Groupama Sailing Team won the year-long Ocean Race (The French Boat) with a score of 253. The race began in Spain in October 2011 and ended in Ireland in July 2012. Tens of thousands of fans showed up in Ireland. Here? What did we have a few hundred? Miami you are the worst sailing fans! When it was in Fort Launderdale they had a good turnout. Adding insult, the Miami Herald put the final update on page 8 of the Sports Pages today.

I also have a video of Groupama warming up for the Miami In-Port Race.

I guess it does. I never needed to get away more. I'm going to meet Squathole soon. Will I need another vacation?

I am sure Mitt Romney, Warren Buffet, and Bill Gates were there. Sailing is the sport for the one percenters and the limousine liberals. The person with the most expensive boat wins.

Nice to see someone following the sport of sailing. It can certainly be expensive at the top levels of the sport (i.e. big boat racing) but there are many opportunities to participate in this sport that does not preclude the 99% from participating. On the contrary, it's generally the 1% that foot the bill so the 99%, the crew, can go and enjoy an incredibly challenging sport. Go down to the Coconut Grove Sailing Club or Castle Harbor Sailing. There are always guys looking for crew. Thank you for your posts.
