Marco Rubio, being considered as a vice presidential candidate on the GOP ticket, has to answer for his past to Mitt Romney and justify how he is qualified to be a step from the presidency. The state he represents -- Florida -- as US Senator is directly in the line of the worst impacts of sea level rise. Yet Rubio has refused to meet with climate change scientists; an invitation offered by the chair of the Department of Geological Sciences at the University of Miami, Dr. Harold Wanless. Why?
PS. Last night NBC Nightly News ran a story that the global weather pattern known as El Nina has dissipated, suggesting that the extreme weather of the past few years may abate. It is an easier story to sell to worried TV viewers than that we are on the edge of climate chaos. What are you personally going to do to save yourself from this impending doom? I mean, besides from driving a hybrid and putting all those recycleables in the right bin. Have you stopped using plastic altogether? Have you gone totally solar, or wind based, for your household power? Have to put your house on stilts and set up your own personal desalinization plant? Or have you just bought a place in the hills of central Canada, so that when the temperature rises 3 degrees, you will still be in a climate cooler than South Florida and you won't fry like bacon?
