What is it with South Florida that things can not stay the names they are given?

I wonder if the politicians rename their children as frequently?

Should be named the Genting Perez Museum with the latter is smaller font to memorialize it was Genting that 'gave' Perez the capital from his sale of subordinated debt he held on neighboring property for less than a year. No one remembers anything.

"No one remembers anything." -- especially rich moguly types..could the weary masses be any easier to fool? who the heck has time to keep up with it all when food, shelter and health are the most important objectives of everyday. We're fortunate to have g of d; it's tied with WDNA as the #1 good thing about MIA ( ok, besides the ocean access..)

As an "Anglo" of Italian, Irish and Scotish ancestry, I am very happy to see that our multicultural community will have a museum with the name "Perez". I grew up listening to the tales of how my great-grandparents and even my grandparents suffered from bigoted comments from people who didn't even know them, judging them on their last names and their accent. I am proud to live in Miami.

We like Hispanics, we just don't like Jorge.

Italian: Why are you assuming that because we don't like the name of a museum we are dissing Hispanics? We put plenty of public dollars into this deal --much more than this developer-- we should name it.

$750 MILLION to $900 MILLION. That is the cost to the taxpayers for the proposed Miami Art Museum's new building on taxpayer owned waterfront park land. It is the taxpayers who are forced to pay the taxes used to pay off the GOB County bonds and the City bonds used to pay for this disaster.

Since the taxpayers will be paying almost a BILLION $ in interest for the Miami Art Museum why isn't the name staying the Miami Art Museum? Why does one condo salesman get to use the site as a billboard to sell condos and get to re-name the place? He is only paying $10-15 mil plus some overvalued modern art. The MAM Board are a bunch of dopes.

It blows my mind that in Miami-Dade museumland that the MAM, children's museum, science museum, history museum, the zoo history museum all are rolling in millions of county dough.

Then you have train museum and the aviation museum that are struggling but making it on their own. The train museum has the benefit of a relationship with parks and then the aviation museum is getting whacked so hard by county aviation to the point they have to sink almost every dollar into rent. Why are the little ones struggling
while the big boys gobble up the dollars? Why are the museums that do not spend a zillion bucks on self promotion and staff get the short end of the stick instead of being rewarded for their conservative management of their dollars?

Miami Art Museum and the doomed Miami Science Museum are getting $1.4 BILLION to $1.6 BILLION in taxpayer dollars because both hired sleazy lobbyists who lied to County and City officials.

A big question? Why would anyone want to donate money to a museum named after condo salesman? What idiot will donate money to promote a fake museum named after a salesman?

There is no way a successful art collector is doing to donate money to the "No Collection, No Endowment, No Private Funding" Perez Art Museum. No way. Who wants to give their hard earned money so a Perez can attend a ribbon cutting.

The taxpayers are paying for the Miami Art Museum, not Perez.

As usual in Miami-Dade County, the taxpayers get screwed. Answer this? Who is protecting the taxpayers?
