Rumors are flying in Homestead. By Geniusofdespair

I heard that the ethically challenged Mayor of South Florida's very own Peyton Place is pushing for a strong mayor post. God forbid! Don't drink the Kool Aid Homesteadians. You have had the 3 worst mayors in County History: Steve Shiver, Lynda Bell and Steve Bateman. The last thing you want is to give that post more power. I hope this is a rumor.

Seems like I made a mistake. A reader pointed out there were 4 bad mayors. I had forgotten about Roscoe Warren.

Not a rumor this misfit mayor is serious. he wants to follow in Mac Daddy Otis Wallace's footsteps.

You left out "pave over everything" Roscoe Warren, who would have been a Mayor for life like Wallace but somehow (or someone) decided he shouldn't run again. He hid under the radar and did more damage than the three you named combined.

I like the current Homestead City Manager, he's doing a good job. I'm guessing he's not towing the "party" line, whatever that may be, so this move would make sense.

Homestead should unincorporate and start all over again. The debt load they're carrying for so many bad financial mistakes will never make a reasonable tax rate to the property owners there plus the shell game they play with their electric company, which should have been sold long ago.

So you are thinking they should UN-INCORORATE? Brilliant! Might work.

I'm thinking of more of a "separation". Their annexations created such a huge mess and expense plus the Speedway, et al. Maybe a better idea would be divide Homestead in to two Cities since it appears the newer "East" side, looks nothing like the older "west" side. Perhaps divided in to two would make it more manageable.

The new manager finds himself wedged between good and evil..

The mayor finds himself locked in the wedge, blocked from his business as usual, back door deals..

Just say "NO" Mr. Mayor!!!
