Marlin's Stadium Exhibition Game. Guest Blog by Barry White

Barry White, a Marlin's fan, reported back from opening day - The New York Yankee's (team I care about) Exhibition Game:

The Marlin's Park seems to be perfect. Beautiful, easy access, plenty of bathrooms and concession stands, good variety of food. It's a gem. They did it right, as much as it might hurt to say it. And using Metro Rail and the Shuttle from Culmer Station was a piece of cake. We've got a world class winner here. You must compliment all who brought it in on time, and maybe on budget. I have not heard about cost over runs. Now lets cheer on the fine fellows on the Marlins. Win or lose, they always give it their best. Go Marlins!

I was most interested to see what the retractable roof looked like from the inside.

Another view of roof.

I don't care how pretty this monster is, I will not support it or the Marlin's. It's a taxpayer funded train wreck which only a few will actually use and enjoy while the rest of us pay for it.

I'm assuming they must have used one of Bercow's experts to study traffic concurrency, which has gone out the window in just one game on a Sunday. Let's see what happens during rush hour tonight. G-d help all those people trying to use 836 to get home!

Genting? Are you paying attention? There's not enough space to build all the roads that will be needed! And, do you really think most Miamian's will use public transport? That's even funnier.

More people will enjoy than the opera house and performing center built for the elite cheese and wine gang. We should all be proud of the accomplishment. What we cannot be proud of is the dumb politicians that negotiated a bad deal.

Sounds nice, but I will never, ever step foot anywhere near that damn stadium. The tourist tax dollars that were and will be spent on this boondoggle should have been spent on updating our crumbling infrastructure - like the underwater sewer forcemain that (according to WASD director John Renfrow) could blow at anytime. What will the stadium do to bring tourists to our fair city? Now imagine what millions of gallons of raw sewage pouring out into Biscayne Bay will do.

I drove from Broward and will return often. Daytime games at the Robbie or Sun Light stadium were unbearable. The air conditioned stadium makes all the difference.

Don't like how they got it -Love the completed project!
Embrace it and you will agree!

Stadium is a win for our community. Bravo! As with most grand edifices and monuments, the naysayers will disappear and the structure will remain.

Everything but the fans. The stadium looks empty in the first picture. We paid a whole lot of money for a few fans!

I think, as an observer, the blog reflects the attitude of it's readers. Blogs are not newspapers. They don't have to worry about balance, because they are usually directed writing whether it is about politics or the best methods of gardening.

Everyone gets a kick in the pants here occasionally ... It is not the blogs fault that some people provide more material than others. :0/

Far as the stadium goes, the Orange Bowl was not the invasive monster that this thing is. I feel really bad for the residents there. It seems that our elected officials hung them out to dry.

It's just too expensive for me. But if I can rent my driveway for 75 bucks a game, I can afford to take my kid there once or twice.

Public Funds (MDC and CM) used Exclusively for the Public to use ???? (Private Corp Miami Marlins used to be Florida Marlins in Miami Gardens go figure what a shell game)
Will this Stadium also be a homeless shelter as per Florida State Law??

The homeless shelter issue is only if State funds were used, and in this case they were not.

Upper deck seats will cost about $16 bucks and I paid $12.50 at the movies last week.

Try getting a ticket for the performing arts center.

Traffic for this stadium is utterly ridiculous. I just got home from the Monday night exhibition game. My wife's opinion on the ballpark itself is that it feels more like theme park than anything else. Maybe I could get used to it, but my first impression is that it is not all that suitable for good baseball, compared to what other cities have. The game itself is dwarfed by the Leni Riefenstahl/Death Star decor.
