Still Time To Comment! The Eyeonmiami Who-Should-Throw-The-First-Pitch Contest !!!

The enthusiasm for the Miami Marlins Stadium and opening day is soaring on this blog! Civic pride abounds. There is still time to voice your opinion; who should throw out the first pitch on opening day of baseball season at the new taxpayer financed / private Miami Marlins Stadium. Nominate your candidate, here! (Based on the most creative reason, we will send a letter of request to Miami Marlins management this afternoon.)

Update: Fact points toward former County Manager George Burgess throwing out the first pitch. Emotion points in two cultural directions. One, to have the first pitch thrown by a shallow celebrity. Two, to have the pitch thrown by a has-been celebrity. If you differ or disagree, or want to further comment: time is running out! David Samson is waiting for Eyeonmiami's recommendation!

Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio: they've been throwing knuckleballs to Floridians for years.

I nominate a lobbyist to represent the whole. How about Julio Rebull?

Carlos Alvarez and/or George Burgess

Definitely George Burgess. What about the guy who owns Genting. Isn't he on deck?

I nominate Adrienne Arsht because she has done so much for our community.

The real face of South Beach, Chris Paciello. That would set the tone.

Tom Fiedler.

To throw the first pitch, Bruno Barreiro. I'm not sure he knows where home plate, is, though. He'd need help finding it.

Come on, folks. George Burgess is just too easy. How about Dexter?

Kathy Fernandez Rundle because all the crooks she should have put in jail will be in the skyboxes cheering.

Braman

I don't think Norman Braman would be the one to throw out any pitches at the Marlins stadium now or anytime in the future.

Let's see if Erik Fresen is available? He and Ellen Bodganoff.

GOOD QUESTION. Whomever throws the first pitch should quickly be hit over the head with a shovel after the pitch is thrown.

I think disgraced ex-County Manager George Burgess should throw out the first pitch and then participate in a scrimmage match pitting all of his political hack cronies who still work for the county against the Marlins.

Here is my suggested lineup for the Burgess Boneheads:

Manager: George Burgess
Pitcher: Alina Hudak
Catcher: Bill Johnson
1B: Lester Sola
2B: Jennifer Moon
SS: Alex Munoz
3B: John Renfrow
LF: Mary Lou Rizzo
CF: Becky Glover
RF: Ysela Llort
DH: Henri Sori

By the way, I would bet the average Burgess Boneheads salary is higher than the average Marlin player.

The first pitch should go to MDC Circuit Court Judge Jeri Beth Cohen. After allshe earned teh distinction for denying the citizens of our community the last chance tu use their commonsence and vote against subzidizing teh Marlis Stadium and building it in its present inapproriate location. No doubt her pitch will be another Fast Ball. Harry E. Gottlieb

How about Joe Martinez throwing out the first pitch. Pepe Diaz could be catching for him. We'd have to find someone to be the mascot, to take off the fish helmut at the right moment ... wait, VNS!

What G said!

This is turning into a very entertaining group. I'm not sure now we can have just one luminary throwing out the first pitch.

Related Group Jorge Perez.

Did anyone nominate the chairman of US Century Bank Ramon Rasco? Big Bill Nelson supporter I hear.

Maybe they can allow a first pitch every inning ...so they kiss up to more of their buddies.

OT, but don't you think Jeff Loria is wetting himself every time he thinks of the Dodgers selling for $2 billion after having buffaloed Miami-Dade into build a stadium for him? He's a billionaire now thanks to Miami-Dade's taxpayers and the Alvarez-Burgess administration.

i like G's idea but be sure to add Gimenez and Alvarez as bat boys. They do whatever Burgess tells them to do, especially when it comes to personnel matters.

Bruno Barreiro singlehandedly did more to get the stadium than any one else. He was the chair of the County Commission and he wouldn't allow any amendments to the Marlin's deal. He should have to throw the first ball naked.

Why are you all such naysayers? These political and civic leaders have made Miami into a great American city whose skyline is graced by a wonderful baseball stadium that all people can enjoy.

I'm more interested in seeing how the Marlins draw after the smoke clears. Stadium, shmadium, national League team, American League town.

Humberto Hernandez former commisioner. Just to remind everyone that keeps voting for the "exile" from cuba card........

At first blush it is temping to join the blasting of the elected idiots and lobbyists who brought us this fiasco but those of us who are really paying for it, THE HARDWORKING, TAXPAYING HOMEOWNERS should be able to sling the first pitch.... and then we tar and feather Carlos Alvarez

OMG, I cannot believe Ron Book was left out of the loop! I think we should put Britto (the artist) painted parking meters on the catchers mound and have DeGrandy at that post. We may want to put Barreto as pitcher, with another parking meter there. I haven't figured out 1st through 3rd, but I have some ideas! Maybe the US Century gang? Oh, wait, didn't they have a former ballplayer on their board?

Anonymous said...

Britto, Adrienne ARsht, Jorge Perez, Ricky Arriola and Cesar Alvarez. A group first pitch throw-in!

Lynda Bell. Except it would have to be a Bible.

JAVIER SOTO

ALFREDO MESA

let burgess pitch and alvarez catch, just like they did it for 7 years at county hall. burgess can come out of the bullpen and alvarez can come out of a closet.

Jeff Ireland is the only choice.

This is perfect for Miss Lynda...let she who is without sin cast the first baseball,
