Fresen Needed Money for the Republican Party. By Geniusofdespair

Longtime Republican (he should know better) Stanley Tate publicly complained about Erik Fresen's leadership of the Miami-Dade County branch of the party. According to the Miami Herald Tate said he had to give the party thousands to keep it afloat. He is not the only one.  Fresen got gambling giant, Genting New York to give twice in August for a total of $20,000. Fresen has hinted that he may be resigning but it sounds more like he is being forced out of the leadership position of the party.

In 2011, the party gave $5,390 (1/3), $2,033 (2/7), $1,890 (2/21), $5,390 (3/1) , $5,390 (4/1), $3,300 (4/22) $1,000 (6/2), $4,000 (6/14), $2,500 (6/14) To Talie Group, Inc. for consulting. The only officer is Juan C. Hernandez. They call the payments consulting but he was the party's executive director. The party is also giving $500 payments to pay towards the health insurance of Juan C. Hernandez.

Is that the same Juan C. Fernandez that said about Rick Scott: "If Mr. Scott takes the same firm stance on immigration to the Federal level, I say he run for President!" 8/12/2010.

Why is the local Pub Party broke? Read this article in Florida Conservative News. They blame it on staff payments:
Other large RECs have staff, but their spending rates pale in comparison to Miami-Dade.  It wouldn’t be so bad if the Miami-Dade REC employees had raised more than they were paid…then they would be paid on merit.  But that’s not the case here.

JC Hernandez earning his keep

This is a great post. The REC was never happy with Fresen. In fact, I was downright mad and unhappy with his leadership. I cringed every time, because of his controversial legislation, the REC was mentioned in the press as though we had anything to do with his chairmanship. That has never sat well with the members.

First, the REC is supposed to be a grassroots organization. This is the only REC in the state that has a politically elected chair and many of us saw problems from the start.

When I first joined the REC over 20years ago, our chair and subsequent chairs were elected from the grass roots. We were never broke. We worked hard all of the members did, to keep everything honest and successful.

We had our own fundraisers and donations came in because it was a grass roots operation and people lined up to help us. The REC was as a family…everybody chipping in to make it work and we were successful.

There was a small office (I cannot remember where or how big...I do remember it to be very small with one part time staff.

We helped to elect Jeb Bush Governor for 2 terms; President GW Bush for two terms; cabinet officers and a host of other officials both local and statewide, all of this done in the trenches working our butts off.

This has been a very good lesson to those who are responsible for this mess. But, hopefully it is now over and we Miami-Dade Republicans will get back on track to do what we do best, elect Republicans to office without the baggage of contention from anyone, inside or outside the Party.
