Greenish Blue Area is House District 120 (Partially depicted -- where the population is except for Keys.) |
The Entire District |
Okay people, find someone GOOD to run in this district unless you are happy with the Incumbent Ron Saunders, a Key West Democrat. I don't know ANYTHING about him. Is he doing anythings for you guys in Homestead and the Redland? The Keys News reported that Saunders might run for the State Senate seat held by term limited Larcenia Bullard. There is a Republican running against Ron, also from Key West - the very end of the district - Joseph McPherson. This district goes North to Eureka Drive.

Typical gerrymandered district. The court should through this seat out. It should go up through the keys and then take in Homestead, Florida City and move up in a logical manner, not slice through into what appears to be the Falls area.
I could never have been happier than to see this post. It is about time someone looks seriously at this district. I have lived here since moving to Homestead and I can tell you, Ron Saunders is worse than worse. I am not even sure he lives in the district. He must go!!!!
I have met McPherson and like him a lot. I will be helping him with his race as a volunteer. He ran the last time and lost, but this time around I believe the people are ready for a representative who will look after them and not himself and I believe McPherson is the one.
Anon is right. That district should have come up to Florida City and Homestead and instead of going into the Falls. But this is what we have this time around and we have to work with it. I am watching this seat like a hawk because I need a representative I can count on. There will be more to come.
No way. That is no trade-off, one guy from the very tip of the district for another guy at the same very tip of the district. That makes no sense. I was talking about someone from the other end of the district for a change.
The far right wing grossly detests the checks and balances of the Court system, especially when a court overturns direct action of the legislatiure. The recent ruling on the Pension "fix" is one example. But isn't the legislature acting in an "activist court" way when it somehow interprets that it has the authority to continue to gerymander districts like 120 in the face of the overwhelming appoved State Consitituional amendments? The Courts are really in a bind. Strike down the maps in defense of the amendments and risk the wrath of the governor and legislature (tinkering with court system, loss of funding, etc.) or step up and stop letting the governor and the legislative lakeys treat us like we are stupid.
This is an easy one court system - stike this map down and draw maps based upon the law, not the political ambitions of elected officials.
Saunders was Katy Edwards fairy godfather ---- he gave her everything that she needed to win... And she didn't ...
Saunders seems like a good guy.
