Alex Diaz de la Portilla takes a step backwards. By Geniusofdespair

ALL IN THE FAMILY - AS THE STOMACH TURNS:

Former State Senator Alex Diaz de la Portilla is running for Florida State Rep. in group 112 against fellow Republican Gustavo Barreiro (County Commissioner Bruno Barreiro's half-brother). Alex filed on Valentine's day, Gustavo filed on Feb. 6th. Gustavo like Alex is a retread, having been a Representative before. Also running in 112 is the Incumbent State Rep Jeanette Nunez who was a Legislative Aide to X-Senator Diaz de la Portilla. She is a spoiler, or is Alex a spoiler for her, to funnel votes from Gustavo and then drop out at the last minute. The question in this race is: Who is less worse?

Awful Miami Dade School Board member Renier Diaz de la Portilla (Alex's brother) is also running for State House group 103. Good. It will get him off the School Board. He filed in January.
Bruno & Zoraida Barreiro

Gustavo Barreiro
Bruno Barreiro's wife Zoraida is running for District 107 against Alejandro Dominguez (not related to anyone that I know of). She filed Feb. 3rd.

Fresen, and the two brothers Diaz de la Portilla in the House - what a disaster that would be. So far Republican Amory Bodin and Democrat Ross Hancock are running against Fresen in District 111.

My take on what is going on? They all want to suckle some of that gambling money that will be pouring in next legislative session. This sucks!  (Note: The seat  numbers on the elections website are not fixed yet...they may change)

I wonder if Bruno's wife is as slow witted as he is?

The race in Miami to watch will be the Alex against Gustavo pair-up. The sparks will fly and it will be down and dirty. Both are masters of absentee ballot collections.

It is "112" because of redistricting....112 will now be in the Roads area, where is 112 now is in the Doral/Western Dade area...the incumbent now in 112 is Jeanette Nunez, which is why she is filed there. She will file in the new number her district will be once the maps are official, as will every other incumbent. Why bring up her name as a "spoiler" without doing research?

Oh, and the new 112 is what is currently 107...so it will be ADLP v Gus v Zoraida. Do some research before you post.

I do my research. This is the CURRENT INFORMATION on election's website. If it is incorrect take your beef up with them. I looked at it this morning. You are assholes if you think I am going to depend on your information. as districts change on the elections website, I will update my information.

Alex has used spoilers before, that is nothing new.

Barreiro's wife is going to run against Barreiro's half brother according to this guy?

What the hell is the Anon's problem? Why so defensive? Just checked the elections web and the info is correct.

The districts are going to court so these Republicans no nothing about the future of what number will be where. They Ass-u-me.

The numbers shown for the 2012 elections are what they are RIGHT NOW...the candidates will move into their new district numbers, and all will be right on the Elections site once the maps are certified, approved, etc.

The Anon is 100% accurate on all counts.

For all those pouring on the Anon..he is right...

1) the district numbers on the elections website do not match the incumbents as they will appear in the 2012 ballot, as those districts aren't technically approved

2) It will be G Barreiro v Z Barreiro v A DLP in 112 (the current 107)

It is interesting that all the Republicans are insisting they know what the districts boundaries are when they haven't been vetted by the courts. Things may change with Fair Districts.

I am a researcher of public records on hundreds of issues. I don't know everything - I report on too many subjects - and I find the inference that I should know everything annoying. When districts change I will report them.

My premise that people running are moving backwards, running for lower offices then they previously held, and that everyone wants to cash in on casino money still stands --no matter who will be running against whom. I really don't care that much on who is running against whom this early in the election. I just care about who is running.

I don't care which friggin' relative is running against which friggin' relative. I care that all the friggin relatives are running.

Isn't Gustavo Barreiro the same idiot rep who filed those bills to benefit the church of scientology?

It wil be Alex Dominguez vs Jose Javier Rodriguez on the democrat side in District 112 And Gus Barreiro vs Zoraida Barreiro and Alex Diaz De la Portilla on the Repuqblican side. Let's hope the newcomers on the democrat side prevail.god willing....Go Dominguez!'

I just saw the respective candidates websites and it appears that at least Alejandro Dominguez in District 107 has a website with his position on various issues. I checked the others but none have sites???? Seems like a good guy. Can't believe anyone would vote for Barreiros wife.

Thanks for the website info! Looks like Fresen endorsed Ranier de la portilla. Also the kid Jose Rodriguez has impressive Harvard credentials. It's a shame he and the other new democrat will run against each other. Republican race is going to be a circus. Fresens opponent has a pretty informative web site although he might be a little over he top with his stances on education and opposition towards casinos.

Gus Barreiro lives in Kendall. Wtf! How can he run in the roads? What a sham.....

To run for State Representative one most only live in the State of Florida. You must move to your district by the time you take the Oath.

As to De La Portilla and Jeanette running against each other, that sounds like a set-up. She worked for the Familia and is an indentured servant. I do not want to say that the relationship was physical, but there is/was something. She was never more than an employee that was in a Republican office either. De La Portilla is/are crook. No more needs to be said.

Gus is not that bad, but has real baggage. Surely the less of two evils. His Brother Bruno will not help him as the De La Portilla gang will to his Brother. Jeanette is stuck with her mechanic husband that does not even vote helping her. Thank God for her bug-eyes that will help her see the truck that is coming straight at her.

By the way, did she even pass any law or do anything this past session? No one still has heard of Jeanette. O.o

Whomever is posting --- calling people bug eyed and calling the brothers crooks: stop. If you have proof send it along.

I can already tell the district 112 race wil be the most heated and interesting , 2 fresh faces on Dem side (Dominguez and Rodriguez) and the Barreiro clan and De la Portilla on the Republican side. Get your popcorn ready.

De la Portilla's name is no longer on the states list of candidadtes for state rep??? I wonder if he had second thoughts after Gustavo and Zoraida Barreiro thru their names in the mix? Any thoughts?

dela portilla changed his mind and is now running against margolis in te state senate.

as a republican I am leaning towards voting for either Dominguez or Rodriguez in 112. The current list of my Republicans makes me ill to my stomach.

Dominguez got my vote. Knocked on my door told me what he stands for. Overall good man. Better than the republicans.... And I'm a republican :/
