I have been loyal to the Marriott hotel chain always staying at one during my globetrotting. Well, trips to New York is more accurate. I heard some bad news that has soured my love affair with the chain, the CEO is a right wing Republican contributor. Ick. Although I might be a Republican again (I sent my form to change my party but I might have been late - just checked I am a Republican) I don't want my shopping to help either party.
J.W. "Bill" Marriott Jr. has served as CEO of Marriott International the hotel franchise and property management company for 40 years. In the 2012 election cycle, he and his wife, Donna, have donated $500,000 to the pro-Romney super-PAC Restore Our Future.
Total giving for 2012 race: $657,687.
• Giving to outside-spending groups: $510,000
• Giving to candidates and parties: $147,687
I don't want to put any more money in Bill's pocket. Anyone have another hotel chain they can recommend?

It's a Mormon thing, not a Republican thing.
Good luck with your search. Statistically speaking, the chances of you finding an acceptable chain with a CEO that isn't Republican is pretty low. All these guys make tons of money and rich guys usually vote Republican.
I like Marriott. It's a solid, consistent, and affordable brand, unlike Hilton, Holiday Inn, or one of the others. I'm not going to go broke or slum it just to keep another $200 out of some chain's multi-million dollar budget.
.
The Pritzker family, they may still own Hyatt hotels, they were/are progressives.
As for Marriott, this is nothing new - that family has always been very conservative.
Typical liberal, judging and making decisions based on the person's ideas and political beliefs. What does that have to do with the quality of the hotel rooms and service? Republicans would never boycott Del Monte because of Nancy Pelosis' affiliation with the brand.
Democrat Liberals are hypocrites!
Your are wrong last reader! I just checked -- I am indeed a registered Republican.
are you voting for the infidel(ity) prone corrupt ex speaker of the House or the 75% sane 25%batshit crazy congressman from Texas or GOD forbid, google Santorum?
I intend to let my readers decide who I vote for.
How about Hilton? Is Paris Hilton, Republican? In her videos she certainly acts like one.
I agree that I'd prefer to spend my money with a firm that wouldn't consider supporting an overtly sociopathic political party. Just checked my Marriott account, and I stayed at one or the other of their brands 89 nights last year. So I'll be using up my points on free nights until they're exhausted, but will not be spending anything more at any Marriott property.
