Rick Scott Panic Button ... by gimleteye

Why just Republican legislators? I'm talking about the panic buttons that have been installed on the phone of every state senator and staffer; a response to the new law allowing anyone to carry a concealed weapon in the Capitol. The button takes personal responsibility to a recognizable level. Panic.

In the Yuletide spirit of gift-giving, Eye On Miami recommends the following computer key be distributed to all Florida voters, to replace the "escape" key. Like bags of ice after an August hurricane.

Activate the Rick Scott panic button now, so citizens can enjoy the protections only available to legislators, thanks to the dominant GOP majority. They are fearful of wandering shooters in the marble hallways. We are afraid of them. Along the line of the Great Economic Emergency, Eye On Miami has further suggestions. Activating panic buttons for citizens will take a lot of money.

Take money from school budgets. The weak. The infirm. The environment. Drain the pools. Since Gov. Scott squashed tough criteria to protect Floridians from water pollution, claiming we can't afford to have clean water, panic button funding could be raised from polluters like Big Sugar. Medicaid recipients? Take the money from them. Scott supports full scale casinos. Soon there will be games of fortune in the lobbies of mega churches. A certain tithing can be made on gambling revenues in places of worship.

Rick Scott swept away decades of precedent in growth management-- crippling the only state agency with the mission to protect communities and neighborhoods. Gov. Scott and the GOP legislature opened the gates to let in the wolves. Hit this button when praying is not enough.

The legislature is made up of idiots. They all need a panic button from us, willing to use our bare hands.

It will be interesting to see what recommendations the DCA comes up with on the U D B application, if Mayor Gimenez doesn't veto it's transmittal, having been chopped to bits by Rick Scott, your Governor.

I think legislators are tap dancing with the devil with this. People are so angry, I fear that some will go "postal" in public places. That has to be giving some of them a creeped-out feeling.
