First Reading of Ordinance To Help Combat Absentee Ballot Fraud. By Geniusofespair

It looks like this Ordinance that I lobbied for  in 3 blogs  has a good chance of passing. It now has 4 sponsors. Thank you Rebeca Sosa, Esteban Bovo and Xavier Suarez.  I can't believe I am saying this: Thank you Pepe Diaz. Principles above personalities.

The first reading is today then on to Committee.

How easy it is to be principled all of the sudden… wow, by a simple act. I guess we obviously have different standards. Kudos though Genius. It’s a good initiative. I just find it ironic that we characterize folks as “principled” for doing such basic things… especially in light of the fact that its one good thing out of a hundred bad initiatives and votes, as highlighted by you own blog, its readers and guest bloggers.

Principles above personalities is a alcoholics anonymous tradition, see below.

I am talking about ME - not him - looking at what he did with this instance...putting aside his other short-comings to be able to say thank you. You think that is easy? Audrey Edmonson is now the biggest supporter of the UDB line. She was previously one of the unreformable majority on that issue. She has grown, maybe others can too. Who knows, I doubt it, but maybe Pepe had an epiphany with that brain tumor ordeal.

Tradition Twelve states: Anonymity is the spiritual foundation of all our Traditions, ever reminding us to place principles above personalities

Genius: There is a saying when you have your head in the lions mouth ease it out. The odd number commissioners are up for reelection. Politicians will go along with the right thing now. Once reelected that is my fear. I do not have trust right now in any of them.

Thank you Genius: Lets see what is going to happen. If you notice the commissioners are slow to get on board.

Genius: You speak of Comm Edmonson as the biggest supported of the UDB. I really think she and Comm Moss could also become our Environmental Commissioners. What do you think? She is also an advocate of Incorporations.
Great job on the absentee ballot
fraud. Maybe next project: Campaign contribution reform.

I'd love to see the Incorporation moratorium lifted next. It's easy enough. Jordan has spoken on the public record that she erred in her resistance (paraphrasing) when Miami Gardens incorporated. Perhaps Jordan can step forward with an ordinance repealing the moratorium.

That is also one of the items on the 2008 Charter change recommendations regarding UMSA incorporating their areas.

I know the biggest issue with this is police & fire, mainly police, because they don't want to dillute the MD PD into a smaller force and have new city's form their own PD with their own agreements! (another Seijas remnant making new city's use MD police for at least two years)
