Talk about arrogant: Why I hate this guy. By Geniusofdespair

I have been the one talking about contempt and arrogance but I thought I would give you an example.

No it is not Dusty or Mayor Gimenez, also in the photograph, it is the third guy Sergio Pereira who has earned my disrespect. He is a long time lobbyist in Miami Dade County and was a favorite of Former Commissioner, Natacha Seijas. He lobbies for Miami Dade Metal Recyclers Association, Amaralto Concrete Pump Inc., Spillis Candela, Wackenhut and Kent Security Services, among others (almost 50 clients).

You might not recognize him in this photo because he is without the slimy cigar he chomps on unlit in Miami Dade County hall. My interaction with him was this. I had spoken against something at the County Commission (I was pretty much against things I spoke about so that is a safe bet on why I was there). Pereira saw me in the lobby outside the chambers after I spoke and in front of about 4 other lobbyists he offered to help me on my issue and gave me his card. He said "Call me."

I walked away and looked at the card: It was Kris Korge's business card. He sized me up as a rube. I looked back and saw Pereira whooping it up with the other guys. I thought to myself politely: "putz" (and not so politely "self-important son of a bitch" and 'F------ A--H---") and decided to hold this grudge against Pereira.

What do Sergio Pereira and Steve Shiver have in common? They both served as County Manager and both dated Cire Andino while she worked for them. Shiver of course divorced his wife and married Andino although they have since split.

Andino now serves as an aide to Commissioner Bovo. God only knows what she is up to there.

Sergio Pereira was County Manager from 1985-87 following Merrett Stierheim. (He was previously an Assistant County Manager under Stierheim and served as City of Miami Manager for 7 months.)

He had a number of scandals. The first was a blow up at the meeting at which he was appointed to the County Manager post without a search. It was discovered that he did not have a college degree although the media had reported he did for many years. Pereira defended himself by saying he merely listed a college (Montclair State in NJ) that he attended on his resume; he never said he actually graduated and did not feel obligated to correct erroneous media reports.

As County Manager, he took private flying lessons in county police helicopters and spent $30,000 to redecorate his county office.

Pereira left office in disgrace in Oct. 1987 after he was indicted on felony theft charges for receiving stolen business suits.

And, yes, he “dated” his secretary Andino while he was married. Pereira and Andino were actually a couple attending public events right up until she began her relationship with Shiver.

When you see Pereira again, just say, “Nice suit, Sergio. Did you buy it or steal it?”

When Sergio Pereira was appointed to the Miami City Manager position in 1985, there was a documented attempt to bribe one of the commissioners to support Pereira.

Read about it here:

Sergio, it would have been funnier --instead of Kroge's card-- if you had given Genius the title to Rodney Barreto's properties whose mortgages are held by US Century Bank. Hear he can't give them away.

Ms. Andino's Facebook page is freaking hilarious. Let's start with her listed high school, Little Flower Catholic High School. Insert your own punchline here.

Let's continue to her activities and interests which include the following; Jesus Daily, Women of Faith, DailyCandy, Pastor Rick Warren, Revive Our Hearts with Nancy Leigh DeMoss, Greater Miami Youth for Christ, Good Goers Mission Based Adventure Travels, Joyce Meyer Ministries, Life Song Friends & Family Getaway, Miracles In Action, Christ Fellowship - Downtown Campus, Robbie Lip Gloss, Pastor Pedro Garcia, (TBN) Trinity Broadcasting Network.

Robbie Lip Gloss? There are lipstick lesbians. Is there such a thing as lipstick christians?

We had dinner with Pereira once. Instead of placing his napkin on his lap, he stuffed into his collar and wore it like a bib. If anyone is a rube, it's Pereira.

Between watching the City of Miami shenanigans this morning and reading this post and comments, I keep asking myself - are you friggin kidding me?

But, I love the dirt, what can I say! The politics are so incestuous down her, just with different demographics, I really want to laugh, but then I remember I'm helping pay for a party I'm not remotely enjoying!

That picture speaks more to Gimenez then it does to the two lobbyists in it…

Are there hand sanitizers on the 29th Floor?

Dusty Melton is rocket scientist smart. In addition, like the former Boy Scout he is he has strong ethics. With his intelligence he should be a Professor at Harvard not solving problems for wealthy businessmen in Miami-Dade County.

In the meantime, many South Floridian non-profits benefit from his help which he contributes on a pro-bono basis.

Smart like Lex Luther using his brain for lobbyist mayhem?

Anonymous said...

No, smart like a genius with strong morals and the highest ethics.

Melton has always struck me as arrogant and petty. Excuse me, but I am not impressed.

Someone who sells their advocacy for a living is not ethical.

True Boy Scout said...

Stop calling Melton a boy scout. He quit the boy scouts in 2000 because he wanted them to allow gays to become scout leaders, something the organization opposed.

If we are not playing the race card we play the gay card. Can we avoid stereotyping?

Hand sanitizers? On the 29th Floor I recommend those showers they use at Turkey Point for decontamination. A sign above the elevator opening: enter at your own peril.

In response to comment that the picture speaks more about Gimenez you are right on. The "good old days" are back for the lobbyists. They couldn't get within 100 yards of Carlos Alvarez. Well it's been tough economic times and it's good to have a friend like Gimenez.

David Samson and Jeffrey Loria and their Marlins baseball team had no trouble getting access to Carlos Alvarez. Alvarez then badgered a majority of the 18 commissioners to divert over $3 BILLION to the Marlins Stadium and Garage.

By the way, the Marlins are owned by a company based in Nova Scotia.

He is no where as slimy as the F%^&cks that sit on the commission.
The conflicts of interest are amazing. Business as usual!

Anonymous said...

True. A majority of the 13 County Commissioners are corrupt and totally self-centered.
