Fever in the morning, fever all through the night. By Geniusofdespair

Peggy Lee sang Fever in 1958, I have lived it for the past 4 days. I am feeling a bit better today, but still sick.

I decided to take this opportunity, half zoned by fever, to talk about your comments that I have been moderating while sick. When we allow anonymous comments it does bring out the crazies. We just don't get the crazies from Miami we get the Republican Trolls who look for key words and pounce upon them. They do this Nationwide. Their comments are easy to identify, they came out in force on my post about a Sarah Palin on Friday. I am determined not to give these folks a voice. They have enough of the internet to fuck with, leave us in Miami alone.

The question is what are we to do about inappropriate comments? Gimleteye doesn't appear to care what you guys dish out so it is left up to me.

Some people think that I should allow all views -- that especially comes from those with differing views -- here. Sometimes if they are intelligent I do leave them. Sometimes if they are funny - like Cato - I leave them. If they are too long and I get tired of reading them, I chuck them, because I know they are just cutting and pasting the same argument to multiple blogs. Also, your comments shouldn't be longer than our blog. Are you trying to make us look bad? Remember, most of all, a blog isn't a democracy it is a personal endeavor with personal views (ours not necessarily yours).

A great number of you hate someone in Miami and you attack that person here, if their name was just mentioned. This isn't a place to air your vendetta. You can describe your problem with a public person but once is enough. A half dozen comments saying the same thing is not going to cut it. Take your gripes elsewhere. For example, read the LBA blog (July 27th) comments. Someone has it in for Marquez, not mentioned at all in my blog btw, and sent in at least 10 derogatory comments about him (I dumped all but 2). I get it, you hate Marquez.

Also, because you know a lobbyist or developer's daughter or son does coke -- you can't accuse them here.

Last, we do talk about politics quite a bit. For example, candidates vying for Carlos Gimenez's job are already lining up. Every time I mention his name supporters of other candidates come out of the woodwork and attack him with pretty meaningless stuff. I get plenty of these: "Gimenez = Alavarez". Pretty stupid. I know what you are doing and I don't like it. Pave the way for your candidate somewhere else. I will not help get Joe Martinez elected.

Let me not forget: I hate: "Please!" "Puleez" or any variation of the word. Please! Stop it is so grating.

I am going back to bed. I love most of our readers (Riley, M, Mensa come to mind) even the inarticulate ones, but some of you are truly annoying to a person with a 102 fever.

I find it funny you mention my name while you are sick as I am recovering from a horrible operation and a month in the hospital. I have tried not to write a comment because I feel so awful I may just attack. And attack is not why people read your very intelligent writings. Get better and keep us informed.

Feel better! Are you armed?

Once you recover, you should go on a vacation. you need to be up in the mountains somewhere far away, to breathe fresh mountain air , become one with nature again and regain perspective. We do appreciate your sophisticated and progressive political dialogue and focus on critical issues in our community. let's talk about needed leadership, from the business , academic and community leaders. also it's time to develop a county charter reform platform. this is a great place to do so.

Feel better and I will try not to be so annoying in the future.

You should at least allow non-defamatory comments to post. You even deleted my post which simply just asked for more info about Ed Marquez's record. I saw something about his involvement with the Marlins stadium. What was his role? Is he a good guy or a bad guy? What kind of consulting work did he do? Same with Osterholt.

Why don't I let you post a comment? Because you call Mayor Gimenez the interim mayor in caps. That is too idiotic. He is the Mayor, show him that respect. And counting letters of his name and comparing the amount of letters in Alvarez's is plain stupid. You do remember I didn't support Alvarez's recall don't you?

If you can't write without calling him the interim Mayor than don't write. I want to give him a chance, that doesn't mean I will like everything he is doing but your comment was stupid. If you want to be stupid do it elsewhere. I care about Miami. I want it to work. Yes, I don't like the salaries but I want this to work, so give him a chance.

why dont you post my comment so your readers can see what you are replying to... read your last paragraph, its all about me... I this, i that.... my understanding was that this was OUR blog for us LITTLE people to have an input in local government and YOU G.O. D. are not allowing us to do so!

This isn't your blog, it is my blog. If you want your blog -- go in the upper right hand corner of this page and start your own blog. Okay?

Read our mast head:

Revealing analysis of national trends and local news you won't find in Miami's mainstream media. Dedicated to ethical government, saving tax dollars and a healthy environment. We aim to break the chokehold of Miami's developers and lobbyists on local government and the public commons. We offer our forum to that end.

That is what I am trying to do, and trashing Gimenez at this time is not doing that. Putting in Martinez would be helping the chokehold. You are proposing I do something that is against our principles. Where does it say this blog is your voice???

I want a cool blog name.

Sorry Charlie - not taking your interim laced comment. I told you once.
