Hialeah leads the State in Unemployment. by Geniusofdespair

The Florida Agency for Workforce Innovation, Labor Market Statistics Center released the unemployment figures for all cities in the state and ranked Hialeah highest with 17.3% for the month of May. Florida City is not on the list, I find that as a glaring omission. Here are the top 10:

1 Hialeah City 17.3
2 Miami Gardens City 17.0
3 Miami City 14.6
4 North Miami City 14.6
5 Cutler Bay Town 14.4
6 Fort Pierce City 14.4
7 North Miami Beach City 14.1
8 Palm Coast City 13.4
9 Titusville City 12.3
10 Homestead City 12.0

I just found these figure a glaring example of an economic failure in the city of Hialeah. Things aren't as rosy there as Julio Robaina claims. Jim DeFede reported:
Parks, pools and libraries have had their hours drastically cut. Jose Azze has been with the city’s parks department for 29 years. “They eliminated field trips, arts and crafts, ceramics, they eliminated our youth baseball league,” Azze said. “But more important they closed parks and when you close a park kids don’t have anywhere to go.”

There are many people responsible for these statistics, so the only thing these statistics do is take the shine off the apple. It's the other stuff about Robaina that I find so disturbing. I support Gimenez.

genius

can you please post the link to these stats? I would like to look at the statistics monthly for my municipality because my Mayor is constantly ranting that we have created jobs. Perhaps I am blind because I do not see the jobs!

Thank you for more information, I only hope people thinking about supporting Robaina read it.

I watched the debate this morning, Robaina was touting "jobs", well if this is what he considers creating them, he seems to blind to his own statistics.

He also talked about the budget, but the new Mayor of Hialeah won't disclose the current financial state of Hialeah. So, I don't know what to make of that either.

In any event, I already voted - for Gimenez, and I hope the rest of the registered voters follow common sense, not attack ads by third party's!

But he hates Castro. That's what's really important.

Wow! Julio Robaina has made a real mess of Hialeah's economy! Worst unemployment rate in the entire state of Florida. And to think some people want to bring his legacy of failure countywide!

By the way, it was not a conspiracy to leave out Florida City. The state only tracks unemployment rates in cities with at least 25k residents. Florida City has about 8k residents.

You should have seen all the Robaina signs up and down Bayshore Drive in the Grove. This is an historical road and these supporters had three signs on every pole they could find. My husband and I headed out early this morning to take pictures and/or rip them down (we could not decide), but someone had beaten us to it. Now they are littering the sidewalk. It is a scary thought that Robaina and his supporters think that this is an appropriate way to treat our beautiful streets in the Grove. Did they think we wouldn't mind? We do! Please get the hell out of the Grove you disgusting polluters!

Love, TOM

Presidential candidates are already on the road to the next election and we still have this sign posted in Hialeah, where not a single elected official (including former mayor Robaina) or anyone in code enforcement has cared to have it taken down. This IS what we will all get in Miami-Dade County.

I hope that all Miami-Dade residents realize that what Julio Robaina been doing in Hialeah is distroyed it and the worse part about it is that he left our youth on the street with out parks, pools and library almost closed now is summer time where can they go?
Please why he did not finish his term here in Hialeah. ask your self that question.
