Precinct 41 in Miami Beach - Only 7 voters by 8:15. Precincts 109 and 103 Aventura-- not one sign for either candidate. Only 10 people voted by 11:40am. 12:23 I am at precinct 146 in Keystone Point. No signs for any candidates. Was told that in North Miami other precincts had 80 voters (where there were 4 precincts at one location. I spoke to two voters here at Keystone. They wouldn't tell who they voted for but they said the robocalls drove them crazy. Another woman said she didn't listen to the calls. Another voter, Katrina, also hates the calls. She would rather be contacted by an ad in the newspaper or by mail. She voted for Carlos Gimenez because she liked what she read in the newspaper. 80 people voted so far at 146. A young fellow in a BMW said he doing a protest vote for Luther Campbell. He doesn't have a land line - no robos. This is a busy precinct. Steady stream of voters.
Fire station 3 in Coral Gables less than 100 people have voted (Old Cutler).
I am taking a pizza break at Steve's in North Miami. Pizza was good. Now I am at the Gwen Margolis Center. Precincts 149, 169, 147, 176,150 and 164. Voting is light here. Just spoke to a woman (African American). She said she hangs up on robocalls. She based her vote on seeing a candidate speak and reading the newspaper over the years. She voted for Gimenez. There are people with Robaina signs here (paid) and a Gimenez volunteer holding a sign.
Miami city hall had about 47 voters today 2:30pm. I am now in Miami Shores (3pm) at precincts 060, 157, 181, 059 179 and 180. Steady but slow but getting busier they said. A man in the parking lot said Robaina is a crook...he voted for Llorente. Dorado who is about 30 just voted for Luther Campbell in Miami Shores. he said if given the choice of Gimenez or Robaina it would be Gimenez. He said he liked how outspoken Campbell is and that is why he liked him. He said he will vote in the runoff as it is his civic duty. Dorado said he didn't listen to Robocalls. Used his caller ID to filter them or hung up on those that slipped through.
About 80 people voted at precinct 156 in Miami Shores on 99th St. and 2nd Avenue. A lot of white haired people in this neck of the woods. I am now in North Miami Beach near 163 Street. Robaina signs are here. No one else has signs. This is a mixed ethnic neighborhood, precinct 126, 121 and 134. Kirk voted from reading the newspaper. Went by their choice. Campaign worker said it has been quiet here. One said about 20 people voted. Daniel, a Haitian voter said he voted based on emails he received from Julio Robaina, hadn't heard from any other candidates.

First went to Precinct 636 around 8:30 this morning. Couple of signs, NO waiting voters. There was a debacle with my registration. While I waited, one person came to vote. Got to Precinct 608 around 9 and it was more active with voters, no signs. A couple of people went ahead of me and while this precinct worked on my debacle about three or four others voted too.
Tell us where the precincts are -- Like the city. Look at the number on the machine when you vote -- right side.
Too bad there's no absentee voting in this election. We could have voted for Carlito as many times as we wanted to!
There is.
I'm at the Gables Fire Station on US-1 and only 95 people have voted here today
By the way, is no one aware that Jose "Pepe" Diaz was operated today for a brain tumor? I understand he's in intensive care. Supposedly, he was suffering from bad headaches since January. Apparently, went to the doctor and was advised to undergo surgery immediately. Goes to show you how unimportant all those trips to Cancun might now mean be to him!
Yes we all read the paper. I think he had a brain transplant.
The problem is that Carlos Alvarez and Natacha Seijas didn't run to regain their seats. Bastards! If they had run, that would have driven traffic to the polls. Super selfish bastards!
Geniusofdespair:
Diaz has a wife and three children. I think you need to apologize.
We are all Americans. Political differences should not mean that we joke about others misfortune and illnesses.
You are better than what you said.
What is the difference if Diaz has a wife and 3 children? Does that make his life more valuable because he can procreate.
If you don't like someone when they are well, should you like them any better just because they are sick?
The brain transplant was pretty funny he could use one. I don't like Pepe and I never will. I wouldn't wish a brain tumor on him, but a brain transplant, I can handle that.
come on; we are all above it.
Our prayers to Pepe Diaz.
Once again Genius, you do to others what you admonish others not to do to you. There's a word for that, but I won't use it because that would be name calling. I will, however, point out what is lacking...compassion. I don't like his politics or actions either, but I don't wish any ill towards the man physically, much less a brain tumor.
I have watched two friends die from brain cancer and it is chilling and sad.
Deep inside in places we generally don't like to show to anyone, we're all scared little kids. Adults work with the child inside to act like adults, which includes some empathy for the sick and suffering among us.
Be respectful. The man is fighting a hard battle.
David chill, he was only having a lobotomy.
Why should we have compassion for a man that turns his back with a cold shoulder on the critters and the health of the environment? He doesn't protect our drinking water. He couldn't care less about nature and the health of the Everglades. All of his votes were in favor of his developer friends. Let them visit him and bring him boxes of chocolate. Sympathy? None for him from me.
When Katy Sorenson had cancer I was praying for her. When Denis Moss had cancer I was praying for him. They earned respect in the community. The last straw was when Sorenson went back after her surgery and we saw most commissions continued treating her badly. We all saw that, we didn't forget.
So because Pepe Diaz didn't do the things you think he should have done as county commissioner, it's good that he has brain cancer. Sick and cold-hearted!
It seems the left espouses the view that it is OK to treat one wrong with another wrong. That is sophomoric, childish, spiteful, and mean. You get back what you put out there. Karma. Can't we all just be a little more respectful of one another, or must we be totally invested in hatred and vile invective and vitriole?
Working under the umbrella of the environmentalist's "wrong for a wrong is OK" hypothesis, Joakim Noah was perfectly justified in calling a Heat fan who disparaged his mother a faggot.
Wasn't he?
David enough already. No one is happy he had a brain tumor (that was removed btw).
Because people are saying they are not all broken-up does not mean they are wishing bad things on him. Some people just don't care about him plain and simple. Why is that so hard to understand? If Obama had a brain tumor many t-baggers and Republicans would be dancing in the streets. By your definition he has bad karma because something bad is happening to him. So maybe you should stop with that analogy. Let's end it. The guy is sick -- no one is wishing him bad things, I made a joke but I certainly don't wish that he is dead and I don't think any of our readers wish him death. I think what they are wishing is that he has an epiphany from his experience.
Ah, now we're talking!
when a human being is going thru a hard time, compassion is what is needed, not sarcasm nor humor. Sorry. I believe in Karma.
If you believe in karma then you believe Pepe deserved to get the tumor because bad things happen to you when you have bad karma. What does that tell you karma believer? Your karma dagger is sicker then people who don't have compassion for someone with bad karma.
