Glenn Beck meltsdown and Fox News leaves America in ruins ... by gimleteye

Motor mouths, pill addicts, and Glenn Beck. An economic implosion on the scale of what is occurring in America today inevitably breeds demagogues. Beck, Rush Limbaugh et al. are from a long line of snake oil salesmen who prey on peoples' fear of the unknown, materializing as slithering creatures waiting in the weeds to rob you. Fox News and Roger Ailes roll in the gurney to take out one of their injured soldiers and will fill the space with another. On "The Daily Show", Jon Stewart was the first to pick up on the inevitable parody that Beck would become. Well you won't have Glenn Beck to kick around any more, Jon Stewart. A certain segment of American Idiot loved Beck and his delusions. Beck will fade away, perhaps to take baths in a sanitorium, engage in a private 12 step program, and eventually write a book renouncing his delusions. More advertisers should abandon Fox News: it is the only poke that will turn Ailes and Murdoch's hooded eyes.

Beck qualifies for the 72 hour mandatory commitment period for a psychological evaluation known as the Baker Act.

Did Beck get fired or leave? What happened?

A source close to the situation tells Mediaite, “There is a strong indication that Glenn Beck has bigger plans for his TV future than anyone thought, as it looks like Joel Cheatwood, SVP of Production/Development at Fox News, will be joining Mercury Radio Arts very soon to work closely with Glenn on his next creative idea.”

I too was out of the loop. Didn't know Beck was leaving so I didn't understand Gimleteye's post. I went to read about the issue and found this article:

Glenn Beck is taking his breakup with Fox News to the spin zone - and insisting that hey, it's not you, it's me.

The controversial, chalkboard-toting host took the last few minutes of his show on Wednesday to explain his departure, at one point comparing himself to Paul Revere.

"When I took this job I didn't take it because it was going to be a career for me," Beck said.

"Paul Revere did not get up on the horse and say, 'I'm going to do this for the rest of my life.' He didn't do it. He got off the horse at some point and fought in the revolution, and then he went back to silversmithing."

The parting comes after weeks of speculation about the rocky relationship between Fox and Beck over advertisers and ratings.

His show averaged 2.7 million viewers during the first three months of last year, compared to less than 2 million during the same timeframe this year, according to Nielsen.

And while he's still one of the top three on cable news, many advertisers have not wanted to associate themselves with the lightning rod host. A source previously told the Daily News that the total number of companies that have refused to run ads on Beck's show is approaching 400.

Beck told his loyal fan base that he took the job at the network two years ago because he felt "if I could prove my case that something wicked this way was coming, something in America was wrong, America would listen, and they have."

...and nothing will change, because he wasn't the problem. The Team Partisans will move on to new boogieman, all the while the super-elite rape us senseless.

I am thinking that Beck should go out on tour with Charlie Sheen. They both seem a bit fragile and bipolar to me.

Please don't compare Beck to Paul Revere. That hurts me to think about it. Revere was wicked brave.
