Cutler Bay and Palmetto Bay have bailed on the Powerline Corridor Issue. By Geniusofdespair
Shame on both Cutler Bay and Palmetto Bay for bailing on the coalition to site FPL lines in an alternate corridor/underground. Former Mayors Paul Vrooman and Eugene Flinn were strong advocates with Pinecrest and South Miami. The new mayors/council people in Cutler Bay and Palmetto Bay have folded on the issue. Piss poor leadership in my view. See letter from hero Mayors, Cindy Lerner and Philip Stoddard.

FPL doesn't remove old poles when they add new poles. In my city it is common to see three poles in a group. FPL is a god. They can do whatever they want.
I am very very disappointed in both cities... I guess they drank the Lynda Bell/FPL Kool Aid...
I guess this means they dont give a damn about us residents that are affected?? Does Mayor Shelley care that we have a pole in our front yard?
I guess not since she seems to be adding more poles to the community.

Mayor Shelley only cares about Mayor Shelley. I bet she'd get back on board with fighting FPL on the power corridor if she thought FPL would use the power for the Palmer Trinity School expansion.
Mayor Shelley has officially become part of the FPL power brokers club.
Cutler Bay is not surprising. Their new mayor has always been supportive of FPL and I give him credit for at least owning it, not that I like it.
Now,Palmetto Bay, that sucks. It seems like Shelley is latching on to Bell who the Village didn't support during the election (Flinn won by a landslide in Palmetto Bay against Bell), but it also seems like Shelley is not owning up to the massive legal bills piling up with the Palmer Trinity issue. Is Bell going to do anything to stop that one? Nope.
Shelley, you will be another one term Mayor like your new buddy Bell, who will also be the first commissioner recalled immediately after she's in office for a year.
I sat through multiple presentations by FPL around the county this past year. Palmetto Bay and Cutler Bay have no dog in the fight. In fact that's why Flinn was so late to the party on that one. He only joined when it became apparent Horace Feliu lost his race because of it. He let it be known that his "influence" with Ferrer of FPL is why Palmetto Bay was left out of the installation path. Palmetto Bay had Mayors Lerner and Stoddard do a 1 1/2 hour presentation at their last meeting. The audience included Flinn who acted bored by talking and texting throughout. Yes, I was there in the back watching him. Lerner reported that Pinecrest is on the hook for $200,000 and is looking for financial support. None of the residents there could care about FPL except for the nuclear aspect. Flinn did nothing to protect Palmetto Bay residents from the poles installed on 144 St. He justified them at the Council meeting when residents complained These new poles will be installed West of the highway starting at 136 St. Exactly what does Palmetto Bay have to do with that area.
As a Palmetto Bay resident I get why Mayor Stanczyk is building a positive relationship with Commissioner Bell. Flinn disappointed everyone by losing. She knocked on my door and tried to get me to vote for Flinn. I think she spent more time on him than talking about herself. Course I was voting for her but Flinn was another story. I was ready for him to go.
The Mayor is trying to get the best for Palmetto Bay and Lynda Bell is the Commissioner. That's how it works. Plain and simple. Flinn needs to move on and take his blackberry with him.
