The Quest For The Perfect Pizza in Miami-Dade. By Geniusofdespair

I am always looking for that New York style pizza in Florida. I have given up on Mario the Baker and have been going to Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza which is good but it is not New York pizza.

This hole in the wall place, Tony's Pizza, at 19329 Route 441 (State Road 7) fits the bill, I give it a thumbs up. They are just South of Ives Dairy Road. The pizza at Tony's is crispy, the crust tastes good and they put the right ratio of sauce to cheese (I hate white pizza). Anyway, give Tony's a try for good New York style pizza. Don't get turned off by the plastic utensils or the slightly caving in drop ceiling toward the back. Sit up front. The tall guy is the owner, maybe his name is Tony, forgot to ask.

Try Pizza Kitchen, 12175 S Dixie Highway, Pinecrest, FL. Or Frankie's Pizza, 9118 Southwest 40th Street, Miami, FL 33165-5345, near intersection with Southwest 92nd Avenue.

Both are take out places. Both make great freakin' pizza.

Mama Mia's or Ferrari's in Country Walk... hands down, no question!

I recommend Pizza Universe, 12223 US1 in Pinecrest, for home delivery. We always enjoy family dinner night out at Papa Rico's on 14415 US1 (next to Hole in the Way Pub) or Steve's Pizza 18063 US1 (off northbound lanes), both Steve's and Papa Rico's are located in Palmetto Bay. Steve's is much more casual dinning. Steve's does claim real NY Style Pizza.

Ever in upstate NY? We always make it a point to eat at Luna Pizza, on Main St in Chestertown, NY. Sometimes you have to go to NY for real NY Pizza. Its all about the NY water and Chestertown is on the purest part of the Hudson River.

Steve's Pizza in North Miami! Best NY style pizza, hands down.

Cassola's on 17th Ave is my favorite, though Frankie's also hits the spot.

Cassolas is dreaded white pizza. They don't have the ratio right of tomato sauce to cheese to qualify as NY pizza. It is Florida pizza-- always too cheesy -- Big floppy slices of cheesy pizza.

Steve's in Palmetto Bay gets my vote. Ferrari's is good but I think they also have NYC prices.

in the 70's thru the 80's, there was a Tony's Pizza in Homestead. It was fabulous!!! ..real NY style pizza. Wonder if these are the same owners?

Cassola's pizza is more Boston style than New York. You can fill up on cheese pizza samples waiting for your order. The crusts are some of the best.

Cassola's pizza is best when you get an entire pie. Great late night spot. Slices always suffer from reheating, regardless of where you get them. Almost left off The Big Cheese, locations both in South Miami and Homestead.

Let's choose the pizza place for an Eye 'meet up.'

I have had Big Cheese and they do make a good Caesar Salad.

Does anyone know what happened to Poogies on 7th street, right next to the metrorail tracks, near Brickell?

My favorite Pizza spots in Dade are...

Nunzio's (Bird and 117 ave - dinner only)
Two Brothers at Town & Country
Steve's Pizza
Anthony's Coal Fired....

But still wouldn't compare them to NYC.... Just ate at Sals in Little Italy last week.... So good.

I do recall really enjoying the pizza at Primanti Brothers in Broward.

George Carlin always hated places that advertised themselves as "New York Style Pizza" in his world if it wasn't in NY it just wasn't
Just had anthony's coal fired its OK , My vote is for Cassola's i'm not a nuuyarker does anyone remember Pizza Loft on flagler from way back when?

Pizza Loft was owned by a good friend of mine (passed away); Now it is called Lovin' Ovens.... and it isn't near as good.

I thought the Pizza Loft on Flagler just moved to Davie. Isn't that the one Jeff Cohen owns?
Their pizza is really good.

I also really like Di Napoli on 117 & South Dixie, a few spots down from the Whole Foods.

Wow. Cassolas? Really. Just about the worst pizza I've ever had. Miami,s best is pretty good (anyone remember when it was called little ceasars?).
I concur witbsteves in north Miami for authentic NY style.

Cassolas? Really? Wow. You guys like Arby's too, don't you.

Just tried pizza from Frankies' Pizza Cafe on 135th and Biscayne in north Miami and it's frigging delicious. The sauce taste sooo good. Much better than Steve's pizza.
