Lawyer, Ricardo "Ricky" Jose Rodriguez is challenging Bruno Barreiro. Good. Glad to see someone is not letting this guy slide.
Ricardo has a very odd signature - he traces his signature twice on all the papers he submitted.
He has as one of his objectives on his website: Defend Property Rights (Wetland Abuse by Derm). WRONG ANSWER RICARDO!!
And, he wants to reduce county employees by 50%?? Ricky you are going to lose with your objectives. Barreiro is vulnerable but you don't fit the bill with what you said on your website. For instance: Fees and licenses are not "ridiculous." You have to raise funds and you have to have licenses.
Rodriguez says he is a Libertarian and a Catholic...hmmm. That must mean he would support a woman's right to an abortion. Libertarians should be against government intrusion...except when religion factors in, so who could predict his stance. He has a picture of himself with Ron Paul on his website. Maybe Barreiro isn't looking so bad.

The guy is a joke. Thee is no way he is an attorney. Perhaps one in the Stephen Cody mode which is not good.
It appears from his website that he is taking everything tea party and exaggerating it to the next level. Not much, if any, rational thought.
No taxes for seniors, no fees, no nothing. We all want fiscal sanity, but this guy is a clear anarchist, not a libertarian.
His type of government belongs in a Mad Max movie. My advice is not to waste any time or money with this guy. This is why incumbents win, because everyone who runs against then just wants to be weird and gain attention. This makes the entire political gene pool look bad.
Looks like a lock for another 4 years for Bruno. That is unless he angers Braman.
Bruno was very close to recall, and held on by a very slim margin.
I'm sure there are other candidates in the wings and they're just waiting to file.
I think Bruno was just getting nervous and wanted a very early (two year) lead on anyone, which means he's not that confident.
If I were going to run against him, I'd wait too. Why let him know this early. The usual suspects of campaign contributors are also watching their funds dwindle between the recall and the next round of elections. I don't see Bruno receiving any major financial bump at this time, the money isn't there.
In regard to "Ricardo", super freak comes to mind, but that's just my opinion. He sounds like a friend of dingbat Bell. Heck, why bother to check those pesky code or zoning issue BEFORE buying property in regard to the UDB or building structures without permits or changing land use policy after violating current land use policy. (sorry, still reeling over the 8 1/2 sq mile issue)
No way, Anon #1, Cody's a much bigger joke. He's a Dane Cook concert. He's a movie by the guys who did "Pineapple Express.". He's an evening with Jack Black. No way has Little Ricky paid his dues. Oh, I really hate that guy. And his little dog, too!!
You can only consider your property rights abridged if the land use or zoning are changed after you purchase it like Miami 21. If you bought it and land use or zoning remain the same thats your problem.
Libertarians are split on abortion the crux being the same as anyone elses when is an emryo or fetus considered an individual.
The only way Bruno would look better to me is if VNS ran against him.
Any legitimate candidates should step forward now. It does not cost much to start building web traffic and social media. Just try not to burn out. Starting early msy scare out the fringe candidates who may garner enough votes to force a runoff, pushing the race where the political parties take over like in District 8. Bruno would have the party machine behind him in a November runoff. Remember that he termed out as a partisan office holder before landing at the BCC.
And I too know Cody from downtown. Look up buffoon. You will see his photo there. Self-impressed is another term that comes to mind.
Finally a candidate who I can support. Not so crazy about the Catholic thing though and a 50% cut is too small.
BTW you can be a true libertarian and be anti-Abortion if you believe that life begins at conception.
People want a full menu of services from government but don't want to pay for them. They really don't get the connection between our taxes and trash pickup, clean streets, parks, etc., etc.
Ricky is a person of character, and integrity. I have known him for years. While I disagree with his views 100% on most things, I can say that he believes what he says and he is honsest. He did a post on Transit Miami once about the 'wacken nut' security guards.

Some of you think it is great sport to challenge me and Gimleteye on the smallest details. It is friggin' annoying.
If you don't like what we write don't read us. Where is the gun to your head? There will come a time when we will follow suit with Coconut Grove Grapevine and BAN all comments. If you can't be civil we don't want you here.
"People want a full menu of services from government but don't want to pay for them. They really don't get the connection between our taxes and trash pickup, clean streets, parks, etc., etc."
I have no problem paying taxes for trash pickup, clean streets, parks, Police, Fire and other ESSENTIAL SERVICES.
I do have a problem paying taxes to subsidize special interest groups, Unions, businesses, Stadiums and the vast majority of entitlements.
G.o.D
I'm pretty sure you missed a coma somewhere in there, and thus, your argument is flawed.
;) M
I have known Ricky for several years now. I will admit that his satirical style is a bit off the norm, but I can assure you that the man is a genius and quite knowledgeable of the problems that Miami-Dade county is facing. He has been a lifelong member of this community and sincerely cares about fixing the obvious problems that others simply have refuse to fix due to their own selfish interests (hint hint). Good luck, Ricky! We'll be rooting for you.
