Urban Development Boundary Fight: We Have a Win. By Geniusofdespair

Lowe's lost their appeal for a store outside the UDB Line. For background see this post on Eye on Miami. It has been in and out of court for years. Let's hope this is the last gasp.

We have many good posts today -- big news day -- be sure to scroll down.

Yeah and because they lost, they are going to help the Chamber, Associated Industries, and Gov Twitter Scott do away with DCA entirely. Guaranteed: there WILL be a Lowes where they want it. Sorry to burst your bubble. You won but you lost. It's the Republican Way according to the Golden Rule.

would be grand to see how much money total was spent by miami-dade county commissioners on behalf of the taxpayers to fight for Lowes store outside the UDB

I agree. The public NEVER gets a final tally on the fruitless fishing expeditions ... costing thousands of hours of time at the bare minimum.

I'm still mad at Heyman. She was the vote that sent this forward to the DCA during the first round. I nearly fell out of my chair at the BCC when she did this. Now look at the time and tax payer dollars wasted. If she would have just said NO, it would not have moved forward to begin with.

It's a good lesson to be learned of things NOT to do, which may seem harmless (moving it for DCA comments, if I remember right).

The train was off and running, full steam by the time the DCA sent it back and recommended denial.

The rest of the story has been well documented here and elsewhere.

I'd like the total dollar figure this cost US - the people who pay the bills for these Commission decisions.

As to Seijas - even people in Dist. 13 pay taxes, you think they're happy at how you waisted their money? Do you know how many Senior meals could have been purchased?
