What is a Meeting Without Javier Souto Going Off Into a Spiral. By Geniusofdespair

Miami Dade County Commissioner Javier Souto rambles during the meeting setting the recall election date...always good for a chuckle. I like the part where he brings up Miguel DeGrandy. If he feels so strongly about voting, why isn't he more irate over absentee ballot fraud in Miami Dade county? Don't see video? This is the link. Remember to give to Miami Voice for recall expenses--the button is on top right of this page.

The Election Supervisor asked to reduce the number of early voting sites as a way to save money.

They had only four early voting sites for the Property Appraiser runoff election. the one VNS tried to schedule for the Jewish sabbath in order to disenfranchise Margolis supporters.

Souto went off on the request to reduce the sites from 20.

The decision was to keep it at 20.

wine and cheese set weighing here - yes, we will be voting.

Big waste of money, you're going to have 20 mostly empty early voting sites for 2 weeks at a tune of $43,000 each.
But like everything else they discuss they ramble on and ramble on and the decision they make is to make no decision.
One early voting site as they originally were talking about may have been not adequate, I think the 4 sites was a good compromise but no the rambling took over.
They made it sound that if you dint vote early you weren't going to be able to vote.

Nobody outside of his district gives him any credit, Yes, he rambles, but his heart is actually in the right place. You may not like his voting record, but no one has ever called him corrupt. He is not an intellectually, but who are we to make light? Besides, when has an intellectual ever been elected to the County Commission?

So you admit he doesn't vote right, he rambles and he isn't smart but because you think his heart is in the right place we should leave him alone? Do you realize that he is also racist towards non -Hispanics using thinly veiled code words? No respect for him here.

He votes "no" to setting the tax rate every year, but freely spends an extra $1 million to open 20 early voting sites - for an election in the middle of spring break with one question on it. Souto has no problem wasting tax dollars. With Martinez, Gimenez, Sosa leaving to become Mayor, and VNS out of the way, Souto may be the next Chairman of Commission. I can't wait.

To the Anonymous above, don't count VNS out. The vote still has yet to come and she will be very organized and well-funded. The law suit still has not been ruled upon. VNS is a very crafty one. What are your plans to make the recall work? Planning on donating to the legal fund, or the campaign? Planning on attending the hearing? Or can you spend some significant time providing time and labor on the campaign effort?

SEIU and other unions will be working hard for the vile one out of self-preservation. Has anyone heard what either PBA or fire unions will be doing, if anything? She has always taken names and she will be more than ready to show her appreciation to those that help her survive this present ordeal. Homestead Speedway expansion money?

I hope NOT to read in this blog complaints that others could have worked harder to get VNS out. The time is ripe, and certainly far from over.

In defense of Souto, he has a degree in economics. He is miles ahead of many of the others. True, there is a disfluency in his speaking style, but it seems to me that he thinks in Spanish and speaks in English. He reaches for the sentences and the words, but I think there is an intelligent man behind that fractured speech.

I heard the circus was in town. Maybe he could get a job with the rest of the clowns.
