A Little Bit About A Lot. By Geniusofdespair

Talk about oil slick reporting, you have it from me today.

Miami-Dade County Commissioner Carlos Gimenez has formally entering the race to be the next mayor of Miami-Dade County. Adam Cendrati is his treasurer.

County Commissioner Lynda 'Don't Ring My' Bell is moving her South Dade office out of the Government Center. It will be next to a Starbucks in Palmetto Bay - on US 1. Looks like she wants to court the Latte crowd who don't particularly like her and the US 1 location says she wants to be VERY visible. I put the info on cost of her office at the end of this post.

There is an application to move the urban development boundary on the County Commission agenda today for the Homestead racetrack expansion. Let's see how Bell votes. By the way, this sucks. Just heard it is being rescheduled. Ryan Burgess works in marketing for the speedway. He is the son of George.

North Miami has to dump Mayor Andre Pierre who drove a $100,000 Porsche this summer and couldn't exactly tell anyone where he got it. He recently reported it as a gift. He also ordered over $4,000 worth of facsimile police badges for his staff. He only has a staff of 3 but got 43 badges. Doesn't really want to tell anyone where they went.

Does the piano on the sandbar rate a front page story? Apparently it has gone viral so I am in the minority.

Miami Herald Columnist Fred Grimm takes on Governor Scott today for ignoring the will of the voters on redistricting. This might be an early tide turner for the cue-bald Governor. People are angry, they only need a little push to turn them vengeful, just ask Mayor Carlos Alvarez, Rick.

Hialeah Julio, aka Hialeah Mayor Julio Robaina is hiding behind a skirt. Yep, it is all his wife's fault. Checks from convicted Ponzi scheme guy were made out to him by mistake. They should have been made out to her. I don't think you are going to be the Mayor of Miami Dade County Julio. When you are in a hole, just stop digging.

More coming, including fill-in....writing this live -- hit read more...

Update on the recall lawsuit...waiting -- know that depositions are going on. Lawyer Stephen Cody is the questioner for Vile Natacha. Meanwhile Miami New Times is taking the wicked one to task for her PAC's tainted campaign contribution. Vanessa Brito, Miami Voice PAC President said: "Our eam of attorneys are doing a great job and I owe them all a debt of gratitude. The depositions, meant to try to harass petition gatherers, are moving along. in spite Of their intent, petition gatherers are glad to get on record that they have nothing to hide".

Michael Lewis of Miami Today nails the County calling it "Back to the future government":

"...We need charter amendments to clear the sand back out of the gears and then oil up county hall machinery we formerly had with the best possible operators. The strong mayor system, coupled with electing commissioners from small areas, has made a clanking Miami-Dade engine sputter worse."

Okay I like something the County Commission did. You all know how I hate red light cameras (read 1984) but at least the county is not going to enforce right turn violations (89% of all tickets) in the unincorporated areas.

My mother-in-law (103 years old) is in the hospital with pneumonia. Lately she has been telling everyone who will listen that she wants to die. While waiting for the ambulance last night we had to warn her that her threats to herself were going to get her tied to the bed. She said "but it is true." We said, it could be true but just don't say it out loud. Last rehab center (which is really a nursing home with physical therapy) she threatened to throw herself out of the bed so they had her on suicide watch. Talking to her is like reasoning with an obstinate 7 year old who has no concept of time.

And speaking of time...that's all folks!

No agenda material delivered to County Commission until last night. No meeting expected today - rules require documents to be delivered 4 working days prior to the meeting. Stay tuned.

Don't Ring my Bell will approve the Homestead Speedway. There's no guessing there! I wonder how Moss will vote, it's actually in Dist. 9.

I'm sure Palmetto Bay is also not
"ringing her Bell". Miss RTL will go over with that crowd as well as Palin.

As to North Miami, no one is surprised about him. He needs to go and they need a full audit. He's sounding like Rolle Jr.

There's no one in Chambers right now at 9:31 AM. The audience chairs are empty.

I blame the no packages until late last night on Bercow. He makes a ton of changes at the last minute (like he did with FPL) and staff probably didn't have time to review all of them. This was probably after he lobbied all of the commissioners and didn't have enough votes

The piano thing has been on MSNBC several times this morning.
They keep saying the kid did it to get into college.
Is Arson and Public dumping in a state waterway something that will get you a fast admission? What will he be studying-Political Science with a minor in environmental destruction?

The BCC meeting was cancelled and a few commissioners grand standed.

Bell, once again, complained about how she had to drive hours to get to the meeting at 9:30 - my response, get another job, one where you don't have to drive so far. Wonder what she'll do during the budget hearings. She had no concern for the public who also probably had to drive hours from Homestead who don't have a car allowance and staff!

She's such a PoS! (sorry, can't help it)

I'm trying to find out information about Lanzo Construction. Anyone with info, please email me at gimleteyemiami@yahoo.com

The real story will be in who owns or will get a commission on the space she wants to rent.

Porbre Lyndacita. We don't want you living with us in Kendall... our commute is long enough. By the way, moving your office to where you are doesn't make it easier to get to. Of course, you and your staff don't know that. The Turnpike location of the Government Center is better and more timely for us.

Moss keeps a place in Florida City/Homestead and they are never there. What is the cost of that?

Anonymous said...

Who's been deposed so far and what did they say? Why not post the transcripts of the depositions here so we all can read them? Does Voice of Miami have anything to hide?

In regard to Bell's lease:

The total projected fiscal impact for the initial four-year term of the lease and the four-year renewal option period is $533,093.81.

THIS IS COMING OUT OF THE GENERAL FUND!

Didn't she campaign on being "fiscally conservative"!

I feel a need to recall her coming on very soon! This is starting to remind me of her need to build a Taj Mahal for Homestead, but than tore in to Flinn about Palmetto Bay
(who didn't have a town hall to start with)

RECALL BELL!

2 Comments above -Voice isn't taking the depositions idiot. Go to the trial if you are so interested. Here is a thought ask Natacha to email them to you. Here is her email:

The numbers you are using are incorrect.
For four years the cost is $200,000 which includes $65,000 for new commissioner build out and furnishings.
Close but you are off by 266% not bad.

The contract stipulates up to 8 years.

Isn't Miami Voice ordering the transcripts? Why doesn't Miami Voice post them on it's website. Or they can give them to you to post. We all have the right to know.

Geniusofdespair said...

I will be glad to email the transcripts to you. Send me your email. geniusofdespair@yahoo.com

It is about a 7 megabyte file. I can't post it.

Couldn't care less said...

What does the anonymous person think the transcripts say:

Here is a sample....Did you sign your name in front of the Notary?

hey will answer, Yes or No

Did Miami Voice tell you to sign your petitions or print your name on them?

Yes or No

Did you tell the people what they were signing?

Yes or No

Are you a registered voter?

Yes or No

I don't need 7 megabytes of that. Let the judge decide.

Please show details of the speedway expansion. There is no reason to expand that boondoggle. Indy Racing has pulled out and expect NASCAR to follow suit. Attendance for major events has fallen drastically in recent years and don't expect anything to change.

The track was a state-of-the-art facility but has fallen into poorly managed hands.

HMS is an anachronism that contributes little to our local economy.

The Queen of Homestead Trailer Trash will have her castle. How much will this be per square foot. She needs to be watched closely. Her sense of entitlement is in full bloom and there will be no pruning of the benefits.

Dear above Anon:
This is not GoD's analysis. This info is from the Lease Agreement that has been prepared by General Services Administration at the request of Commissioner Lynda Bell.

Has anyone asked Bell why she is moving out? Did you know KS spent very little time there she was mostly downtown, do you know why?
The answers might surprise you.

I like the piano story. Nobody's ripping me off. It doesn't cost me anything. It's just a cute, fun story. Don't you think we need those once in a while?

I wish that I had put it there. At 16, all I could think of was to put bubbles in the town's fountain.

Anonymous said...

Bell is moving out because:

she wanted a larger space to contain her staff which would not fit into KS old space (doubling the size of the old office)

she wanted a full kitchen (gee, Lynda is going to cook meals on our dime?)

she wanted to have meetings without paying for security (you can't have meetings in the dark, if security is required)

she wanted parking (this is laughable since she is moving to a building with all of about 15-20 spaces for 3 floors and her staff will take up half of them)

she wanted to be in the center of her district (errr, that is not in Palmetto Bay, Lynda, it more where towards you put your ugly bill boards during the election, in violation of laws, may I add.)

she wanted to have a "good" address and fulfilling her campaign promise to bring the government services back to the South Dade Government Center, obviously did not include her special services.

she wanted to see her name in lights and would not get that treatment at the county building

Anonymous said...

Has anyone figured out that the office is in Palmetto Bay, the Flinn stronghold. She's still worried about him. Her name in lights on US1, everyone who lives in PB will pass by. She campaigned relentlessly in PB. The campaign lives on.

Anonymous said...

You mean the smoke screen lives on

I am watching Egypt...and twicky wik in talli. I needed to get my head out of county politics. Wow, it was a big mistake. It's even scarier outside the county.

Anonymous said...

It is about the perception, not the reality. It is all about the fact that at least 400 voters were swayed by her relentless walking campaign and did not know any better. In other words, they bought the bullsnot.

Anonymous said...

Bell lost bigtime in Palmetto Bay, and she campaigned by criticizing Flinn for building a permanent village hall when the village didn't have one. Now, she is going to spend $500,000 in RENT instead of being at the South Dade Government Center, 5 minutes away? Amazing. It's Homestead all over again.

I guess this means I'm not going to be able to go to Starbucks without seeing her ugly face.

Anonymous said...

not to mention going to oferdahls which she loved during her campaign
